Junk Journal January is a free month-long challenge to inspire you to create in your junk journal or art journal. It’s a great chance to kickstart your creativity in 2025 with a supportive community and show up to your journal!
How to get involved
Follow the prompt list and create along each day - or pick and choose the prompts that take your fancy. There are no rules! You’re welcome to use the prompts with other types of journaling too.
Creator collaboration
Each day throughout the month, watch a new video from 30 different creators on KZbin. Create a journal page alongside them for the day’s prompt. Videos will appear in the playlist at 12pm (midday) GMT each day from 1 January.

Congratulations on a great achievement getting all that done on time! I’m a few days behind but have found it so much fun and quite obsessive! I have mostly collaged the left overs of my scrapbooking and card making papers, which have been sitting around taking up space because they are so lovely I can’t throw them out… I have thoroughly enjoyed the process and learned a lot about junk journaling and it seems to me it is anything but “ junk”. It’s clear it’s a skilled craft in its own right, and has some wonderful opportunities for self expression. Thanks so much for introducing me to this art form and your journal is beautiful. I wasn’t able to do the prompts daily bc I’ve been working on organizing my space but when I am done, I will pick up where I left off (I believe it was day 11). Thank you Meg for doing junk journal January. It was another challenging, but fun reveal was the one thing that surprised me because I couldn’t quite figure out what I wanted to do and then I remembered a stencil that was like on a wheel and you turned it and you got a different stencil and so I kind of cut out something similarto put on my page to use for that❤

Over the years of cardmaking and stamping, I have noticed and learned that when I stamp with rubber stamps, it’s easier to get a clear image. When I used clear stamps like that fabulous mail stamp, it really helps me to have a piece of fun foam to put under the paper. In fact, I took a piece of 4 x 6 inch heavy cardstock, covered kit with patterned paper and glued 2 pieces of fun foam, layered on top of each other. I use it as a book board and a way to use clear stamps in my journals. It helps me relax when I stamp. For most stamping I use a misti stamp positioner. But there is no way to stuff a journal in it. 😂😂😂😂😂. 💕💕💕💕. Your stamp came out clear. I was holding my breath for you. lol. 👀👀👀👀

Your whole journal is lovely! Thanks for sharing it and for this project. It's my first time doing a daily prompt for a junk journal. It was very stretching. (I have 2 more to finish still.) Modern was the one I had the most trouble with because it's the opposite of my style and preference. My favorite page ended up being sealed I think. I haven't gotten back yet to look them all over again since I haven't finished. My one regret is that I didn't journal everyday somehow on my pages. I wish I would have, but sometimes just getting the page done was all I could do. Congrats on a successful Junk Journal January!
