The torches look great for their size and scale . I love the fact that the LED lights are brighter than the tea lights and have a more realistic feel. I was thinking of doing torches, but I didn't want to make something static and unlit. Thanks for showing a better way of doing torches for tabletop play.

Brilliant! Every time I watch your vids I end up crafting something and/or writing new stuff for my campaign. Crafting gets me inspired.

One idea to compensate for the size of the torch base would be to move them off to one side. That way you could place a model or something on the square with the torch. You'd need more solder and/or longer LED leads, but it would allow models to actually "use" the torch.

Nice tutorial. Think I will use some of these when I set up some of my fantasy dioramas. Will make for a good display piece :) Thanks!

not sure if I posted this before, but using stain glass paints for the flame is awesome, because they dry see through.

These are really great, but when you mentioned "stone technique" it reminded me of what I did in my last build. Have you ever tried making boulders using styrofoam? I found that tearing off the individual pellets in the stuff until you had the desired shape, keeping a flat edge so they can look half-buried, and painting thicker or thinner over the cracks can give them a weathered look very simply.

+EdwardHowton Yep, that is a tried and trusted technique.

theDMsCraft Figures! I'm pretty late to this party. Still, always good to share tips and tricks, and the thought occurred to me as I was making the campfire.

thank you for this idea,I work in 1 inch scale(1 inch = 1 foot) and I am making a Halloween scene & need some lights but none that you have to plug in because it's on a turntable and has to be able to be moved around hence being on a turntable.thanks again

I like how you used a sponge to paint a texture effect onto smooth paper, that's a nice idea! Also I have a comment that is for one of your other videos where you make a bonfire, but I can't find that video right now, so I'm leaving it here. In that one, you used hot glue on some clear plastic to make fire, cut it out, painted it and glued it around a tea light. I was experimenting with that technique today to make some flames. That is extremely cool--I never would've thought to use hot glue like that, but the finished flames after getting some color washes and a gloss varnish look like premade plastic flames that I could've bought--they look that good! Thanks so much for your videos! 😃 I also used the pieces of clear plastic that are the parts of the packaging for the nolzur's miniatures to put the glue on, so free clear thin plastic there! 😜 Thanks again.

could you paint the cage, paint the light then put them together? Cause I doubt my ability to handle that level of tiny detail

+Betty Law Morgan Yes, you could do that.

Sounds like a fair enough reason. Maybe you should include some sex or celebrities. A weekly show where Roderick rescues a porn star from the clutches of some evil doer!
