Summer Schedule
Expect a new video every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday! (Schedule May Vary)
How Farms Work by Ryan Kuster is a KZbin channel based in rural Potosi, Wisconsin. Our mission is to teach those who didn't grow up on a farm what the farming life is like. These videos show the Kuster family working together raising cattle and crops. We believe everyone who wants to know more about farming should be able to share the farming experience with us and we look to educate the world on many essential agriculture topics.
How Farms Work takes place on ~1,100 acres with around 75-200 cattle at any given time. Four John Deere tractors are currently used on the farm, which are a 4020, 4640, 7600, and 8235R.

I don't know what it is, but I just love the way that planter looks on the 46. With the liquid tank and the hopper extensions and no fert boxes, it's got a sharp look to it. Sounds like planting went well this year, I think you guys earned it after the past few years of fighting weather and breakdowns. Thanks for the update Ryan!

It also often leads to prices slumping. A number of years ago when wheat prices when right up here fertiliser went up I believe over £600/ton for 20.10.10 and £500/ton for 34.5% AN as more put in a lot of wheat and pushed it for higher yields which then led to a glut that caused the wheat prices to crash back down that I believe is the only year we have never brought any fertiliser as we couldn't justify it as lamb prices were down and feed prices right up.

I hope it isn't a short term price increase after having an adult in charge eased the trade war and countries caught up on their supplies. There seems to be a lot more corn getting planted this year because the prices went up. There might be an excess supply this fall, especially if it's a good growing year.

@@tiredoldmechanic1791 I reckon that they will likely dip barring any natural disasters but will come back up again just not to the same levels at least it is what has happened numerous times here with wheat and OSR though the latter is more iffy now due to the fact they have banned insecticide seed treatment for it which has left a lot especially those who have suffered from a lot of pest issue in the past unwilling to grow it which has then led to more beekeepers complaining as they are struggling for the plants for their bees which is ironic as they were the reason why it was banned though the reasoning and research is sketchy

As someone else has commented on, planting done, now hay. A never ending cycle. So,is your brother older than you? It is nice when a family can farm together. I know, you have your own places, but it is still like family farming. Any way it is nice you guys can do it somewhat together and make a living for your selves. The family farm days are not like they use to be. Hope your hay season gets off to a good start and you all have favorable weather conditions this year, not like last year.👍👍👍👍

Record corn prices for you. But do not complain when the price of meat, milk and eggs double because producers are culling their flocks and herds because of high feed prices.

Do you think of the trend of farmers using older tractors with auto steer bolt on's is the trend of the future? I keep reading about right to repair legislation about how farmers not being able to fix their new tractors and combines without exorbitant fees to dealers because John Deere and other's will not offer programs to troubleshoot their equipment.

Great video and camera work is amazing in job!! I know u are a very busy guy but I had a couple questions?? Will there be a farm day again?? Do u know if the old atave silo is built yet and when is the new rewind video come out. Sorry for the all the questions but more i watch the past video the more questions I got lol. Hope u have a great growing season and thanks again Ryan for all u do and your time!!!

I'm not sure on the Farm Day, Hannah is trying to convince to do it again, but the preparation itself is disruptive to what we're doing on the farm. I think the stave silo was rebuilt but I haven't gone to look for it. I haven't decided on the Rewind, I could post it this summer, or wait until after next July and it would be better. Probably will do it this summer.
