The flower clasps are so cute! This is my favourite way of hemming things too, it's just so neat and satisfying and flexible, even if it does take forever.

Gosh, it turned out so well! Very fun to see it happen, from start to finish. Putting in the arm holes brought back memories of my great aunt teaching me how to make button holes. And what a great find the clasps were. Perfect.

Thank you so much for sharing such a lovely make. Yes, it did take work, but look at all that you have learned in the process. I am so inspired to spin one of my batts and weave a lovely piece of cloth to sew a lovely cloak... I live in the mountains, so I believe it is necessary :)

really enjoyed this series and glad you got it finished and it's a useful garment for you! I love the idea of thinking of a garment as "entirely useful, but not in the way it would have traditionally be used"

alas, no pockets. It comes in at nearly 3 kilograms, so I didn't want to encourage myself to increase the weight by putting stuff in pockets.

i do love it when a three part series has four parts. ;) Your cloak is absolutely gorgeous. i could not see it when the clasps were on the table, but as soon as you put them on the wool, they were perfect, as you said. You did a marvellous job, and i thank you for letting us be part of the genesis of your beautiful cloak. well done! P.S. Nothing beats a good twirl in a cloak!

Mild winter!! That looks like snow to me!! Make yourself a nice warm bonnet now. I have found that nothing is warmer than the sweater and socks that I made from my own yarn. I'll have to try making a cloak next. My homespun is so dear to me that I just cringe at the thought of warp waste. Great videos!
@CrowingHen
@CrowingHen Жыл бұрын
It was pretty snowy, but it melted once the sun got up. Warp waste is sad, but the yarn can be used in other projects and for sewing or embroidery.

Wow! Not practical my ass. ;) I don't know if you have a man, but if he ain't turned on by that garment, well... The Queen has long ago forgone coats: she wears capes, cloaks, shawls only. You did an amazing job. And I am so jealous... You process your own wool?!!! I have sworn not get sheep again until I can commit to that. I wonder if I will ever have sheep again. You are a high quality human. :)

More traditionally, we would have lots of people working on a project like this: Shepheard, spinner, weaver, sewist... It's a bit strange doing all the tasks myself.
