You hit the nail on the head. Sawing the lumber is only about 20% of the work if you are planning on using it for interior use

Max loves a sawdust cleanse. He's always rolling in it next to the sawmill too. When we're milling pine it helps with the smell!

Love it!! I honestly think at this point it would be faster to throw the wood on the wall and belt sand it once all up. I love planing!! But it takes time!

If you don’t mind a rustic rough sawn look, you would save a ton of time. We have a wall of reclaimed rough sawn boards in our kitchen. Otherwise you probably really need a big stationary planer to surface boards more efficiently.

I don't mind it rough sawn (my wife might disagree), but we left these boards out to air dry and there's a little mildew on some of it. I need to sand or plane it all down to get rid of that. Its either that or bleach it and dry it in the kiln... extra work either way. In hindsight I should have put it all right in the kiln as we sawed it.
