The potential system is dynamic. I'm sure each position has different marks that need to be hit to make potential go up or down but I'm not sure what those may be.

A fun idea could be that you chose 4 break out minor leaguers who have D or C potential and do a community poll where people vote for one player who deserves a letter increase.
@Beans981 Жыл бұрын
Agreed, Trenton Brooks definitely would be a great candidate too, no way he should be a D potential with how he played.
@Monokazie Жыл бұрын
It should be Capel for this year if the show doesn’t bump him up on its own which I do think it will , if it does then definitely Trenton but Capel just won roty there’s no way in hell he should have D , he’s literally also like a 72 overall top which is higher then D potential so I think might as well give him C he could get to 80 then he’s playing so good the show is gonna have him at 75 overall with D potential soon which makes no sense lol

1. Make sure Soderstrom is in the 40 man before the rule 5 draft. He WILL get picked by a cpu team. 2. With a guy like Aaron Don, if he goes up quickly and you can tell he's legit, consider giving him a contract that buys out FA years. Maybe not a 12+ year contract, but a 8-10 year deal can guarantee him at his prime, and you'll end up only paying 7-12 million a year if you extend him after he gets any mlb service. I don't think you should do this for every player, and service time manipulation will be important, but see what the Mariners and Rays did with Rodriguez and Franco. They have two of the smallest budgets in baseball and is beneficial financially in the long term.
@402bone Жыл бұрын
I like the idea of moving soderstrom to 1st base since you don’t have anybody there with potential.

The potential can change. It’s just rare. I think last year in my Braves franchise Michael Harris went from a 92 to an 89 bc he struggled in AA so it can change. It’s just rare.

I don’t mind the potential of a player not really changing due to performance. You can see it as a talent-cap. ”Bad” players can have good years and ”good” players can have bad years. That does not change what they are actually capable of doing.

I was thinking about the scouting system and what might be a cheese way of trying to fix a franchise with this many holes. Over the course of a season, you get a total of 42 scouting sessions. There are 4 regions that can be scouted. My idea is this, focus entirely on 1 of 4 areas with each draft. You'll need 2 scouts with good Discovery and the 3 of them to be good at the one position you are scouting. I'll be using CF for this example. In week 1, you set your 2 best discovery scouts to discovery placing those in the Gold and Silver slots to increase the number you can possibly get of discoveries. And then set your Final one to scout CF in one of the areas. Weeks 2-4, have all 3 scout CF in the same region as week 1. Week 5 have one scout for each of the remaining 3 regions and then weeks 6-8 finish one, 9-11 finish the 3rd region, and weeks 12-14 the final region. The positive to this approach is having every player at that position 100% scouted along with the few you discovered in week 1 with a minimum of +30% to the interest in signing from all of them. The downside is you are giving up on every other position in that draft. You could set up a rotation of SP/CF/SS/SP/C every 5 years. Starting pitchers who don't pan out can be converted to relievers and those position players should translate to the other positions at least defensively well. And of course you can look to FA to fill the holes.
@lightbird70isdabeast Жыл бұрын
Cane, I know you said you don’t like manually changing potential, but the likelihood that Capel will regress severely with is ratings is high due to his D potential. Which in all fairness, would add a level of depth to the series to have a guy who was a one year wonder. But bumping it up to like a 75 or just 70 so he doesn’t drop 3-4 overalls I think would be deserving for him, especially since he won ROTY in the series and is currently slashing .295/.354/.364 IRL as of April 22

I had the same issue with Zach Jackson in my franchise. I ended up using a combo of Jackson, Rooker and a low level prospect in the first offseason to get Andy Pages and Busch from the Dodgers since they were stuck behind Betts and Lux with Busch being on the older side. Pages is really fun and developed into a consistent corner OF power guy. Guy just hits for me. Would definitely recommend taking a look at him if there is any interest in right handed power.

Hi Kane, I believe you said in a previous episode that you arent doing auto fielding because you like to make the decisions however you still make the throw decisions its just the fielding of the ball that is automated. Auto fielding also means you cant immediately tell if a hit is a homerun or not. Love the vids, keep up the good work!

I’m still pretty high on the two young lefties to be honest. Even if they don’t end up being great starters, I feel like one can crack the rotation, and having another be a solid lefty long reliever could be huge. Long relievers pitch a ton in the show, so could still give you lots of value.
@omni9597 Жыл бұрын
Hey Cane, not sure if you’ll see this but an interesting player you could target in free agency is Brendan Mckay. He’ll be a free agent in my franchise after year one and he’s like a really budget Ohtani. He’s a starting pitcher with 1B eligibility and decent stats, so he might be a fun option for AAA.

@boomerromano9265 Жыл бұрын
I’m indifferent to stream or no stream off-season. Fujinami and Cape both deserve low 80s potential you’re most likely gonna have to manually change it cause it’s rare for the show to reward that kind of play. With other young D potential player that are playing well in the big leagues I’d get them to C potential or they’re gonna start taking attribute wise sooner as opposed to later. Hope it’s not too late for my input.

Muller definitely seems like a reliever/closer to trade for prospects assuming he performs well. While he’s young he doesn’t seem to fit this team’s identity, and stoppers/closers who walk batters aren’t much use imo. Trenton Brooks leads me to think it might be worth gambling on guys with good plate vision to outperform their contact and power stats. Fujinami and Capel deserve potential boosts no doubt lol. Don’t forget to look for players with quirks that being added value to the team! C and D potentials with good quirks can be another “market inefficiency”, as Billy Beane would call it.
@tootzmcgee7144 Жыл бұрын
I think you should hold off on starting Solderstrom at MLB another year. He's only 21 and it seems needlessly risky to not just let him develop for another year (not to mention losing the year of team control with the budget you have). If he moves up and struggles than you're wasting that development on a year you definitely won't be over 500.
