Putting a picture of a Mosin Nagant with a scope is very misleading. Simo used iron sights only, no scope, making his numbers all the more impressive

Is it called rat tail when it doesn’t go all the way through? What is it called when it passes through and has a butt plate and all that, through tang?
@maxlutz367411 сағат бұрын
@@lindboknifeandtool It´s called rat tail tang when it´s considerably narrower than the blade. When it goes all the way through it´s still a rat tail tang. Sometimes the term "through tang" is used when it´s full length. Butt plate is not required. Many puukkos have only a small diameter plate for the peened tang. Full tang is a tang that extends over the full area of the handle and may or may not have scales. Tapered tang is a full tang with a distal taper.

Finns are not scandinavians, nor norse. Of course there's overlap regarding knife design, since they are geographically close, but finns have their separate history from the vikings and scandinavians. Please don't erase that.
@aaronprabish705410 сағат бұрын
While Finns are not Scandinavian or Viking, they are considered Norse. They share this Norse heritage within their flag along with the Scandinavians (Denmark, Norway, and Sweden) Iceland, as well as the Faroe Islands, Greenland, and Åland. Yes Finns have their own separate history but they are Norse as "Norse" is another word for Nordic which they are apart of and are considered. Please don't forget that.
@bufordhighwater98726 сағат бұрын
@@aaronprabish7054 Norse and Nordic each have multiple meanings. Some of those meanings are the same or similar, but not all of them. Finland is Nordic, but it is not Norse.
@Blargaha6 сағат бұрын
@@aaronprabish7054 "Norse" is a reference to the people that spoke a specific north Germanic language in the middle ages. They spoke "Old Norse", which would become Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, and Icelandic. "Norse" =/= "Nordic". The Nordic countries are a modern political union. Finnish is not a Germanic language, and they're not Scandinavians. We love them, but they do their own thing. FYI. The Nordic Cross Flags, as they are officially known, are references to Christianity, not the Old Norse.

As a Finnish-American Puukko owner, I appreciate the attempt on covering this unique knife's history. My puukko is a traditional curly birch handle with a carbon steel blade. What this video doesn't do justice to is the handle of a well-made puukko. They are very thick, and shaped for comfort under extreme use. The knife showcased from :53 onward is a cheap example of a puukko handle. This Ahti Korpi is a much more accurate depiction as seen here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f2m4qJR_iJ6dkMk

I’d just like to say I ate my tomato/avocado sandwich too this video and was pleasantly satisfied with my choice I am subscribed, but, keep at it Knife Story - you make some interesting and generally good content. Also those who wonder how to make a tomato/avocado sandwich - toast your bread get mayo (not too much nor too little, on both slices), balsamic vinegar, olive oil, black pepper, and course sea salt - season the tomato slices with pepper and course sea salt of course, and layor the avocado on top of the tomato slices like a lasagna pour your olive oil and balsamic vinegar before closing your sandwich and boom enjoy also get some chills (potato chips) and a drink of your choosing water’s good. Also you can put whatever you want on your sandwiches as long as you evolve your sandwich making and cooking abilities that’s all that matters hell this basically 1 of the only sandwiches I know how too put together all that I’m trying to say is enjoy your sand 🏝which 🧙. And even if it’s ass there’s always peanut butter and jelly.

It´s for protection and retention. A well fitted sheath holds the knife when held upside down and releases easily. It does not cause an issue. The grip often gets wider to the end or has a small ledge to allow better grip.

Finnish people are Baltic Finns, part of Finno-Ugric. North west from russia. Mongols are east asian, on the other side of the continent between chinese and russian border areas. Closer to Japan than western europe. The finns being mongol thing is it's own rabbit hole, with "race theorists", political agendas, even US labour disputes leading to call Finns as "ChinaSwedes". Kind of interesting topic to research how everyone in the world(well, western, civilized part) wanted to label us finns as something we are not. When all we wanted to be was our own people, and be left on our own.
