Finland has 50 active NHLers and 263 all time; Minnesota alone (similar pop to Finland) is 43 and 304. Pretty similar. Sweden, for fun, is 87 and 415, but has double the pop of both. GG to Finland btw. Last goal a beauty. Always cheering for the Finns in these matchups.

The OT penalty sweden got was a bit weird but in the end Sweden had the puck for 15 minutes straight in the 3rd and they didint manage to score enough to avoid OT and made it possible.

Finland had a a pretty bad offensive, but good shooters. Sweden had a pretty good offensive, but bad shooters, weak shots. Pretty equal skill level but different capabilities. Other than that, good match. The US will be big favourites coming into the final though, no question about that. Hoping Finland takes it!

Hockey is cruel towards goalies. You can't allow soft goals. Sweden was lucky that the first soft goal was disallowed by the usual offside business. All these penalties cannot have made the game more entertaining.

It should have been Latvia on this game - Not Sweden (how Sweden won Latvia? Because the refs missed the major and Sweden scored right away when the Latvian player was lying on the ice). Sweden got away from many missed calls - And Sweden was in this game in.the first place because it got away in the last game too (the refs stole it from Latvia). Those Finns clearly deserved the victory. I'm not a big fan of the Finns but Sweden clearly got the refs on their side during this whole tournament (so many missed calls)

@@kirahviofficial5761 I never complained about the refs, but it makes no difference if they are at home or not, since the refs aren't Canadian in their games. Canada often has a bad game or two during the prelims. They made it to the quarters and lost by one. Not a big deal in my opinion. By no means, "pathetic". You can't win every year. They still have the best record since 2020, with three gold and a silver.

An ice hockey match consists of THREE periods and a possible overtime and a possible shootout. Finland was slightly better in period one and way better than Sweden in period two. Finland deserved to win against Sweden like they mostly nowadays do.

See the score at the end? There's different strategies in the game of ice hockey to make your team's score bigger than the opponent's. According to the rules the team with a bigger number of goals at the end is given the points or advances in a playoff. Next year Sweden could try scoring more than the opposition. If they do that and still lose I might agree with your nuanced statement.

Finnish team made more goals, had less power play time and blocked more shots. Finnish team was better.
