I feel as a Finn the best games are always against Sweden, no matter in which state of the tournament we face off. There is so much more emotion in play when we play against Sweden, the victories are so much sweeter and the losses are extra bitter when it is against Sweden. l Today we won, next time we might lose. But of course, I will always root Sweden when they are not playing against us. It will feel better when you win the bronze medals :)

as a Swede I am very dissapointed that we lost but Finlands goalie was simply too tough to break whereas our goalie struggled to make the saves when he needed to. Congrats to Finland you deserve it.

Thank you. Rimpinen has been absolutely smashing it in the Finnish league this season as a rookie goalie (he was awesome also last year in the 2nd highest league) and he has absolutely carried the u20 team this year.

There was some impeccable setups too for those goals like here 1:58 there is 3 guys there nobody is guarding is it the goalies fault? My blame is on defencemen. This one was pure luck 3:46 that it bounced from the Swedish stick perfectly into the Finn stick on the post. Also this 5:05 goal which would have been a save most likely but Swedish defence tackled the Finn that domino effected the push to cause the goal, again was that the goalies fault? Both goalies took it to overtime, both were good, Rimpinen is better for sure, and considering these goals I would not put the majority of the blame on the Swedish goalie on any of goals except the one in overtime. oh edit and also that goal was made on powerplay too :D You just cant give a powerplay on overtime.

I was secretly rooting for Latvia even when you played Finland. The win against Canada made my day, and I was trying my very hardest to find a way to watch the Sweden game, of course I would have rather had played Latvia yesterday, and it wouldn't have bothered me if we would have been in the bronze game if it meant that Latvia is in the finals. Latvia winning bronze in Finland was one of the greatest moments I've ever witnessed in hockey

Man, the Finnish U20 team always impresses me with its pluckiness. They're not the flashiest but they rarely have any obvious weaknesses and they've proven to be cohesive and opportunistic exactly when needed these last quite a few years at the WJC.

Best game of the tournament so far. Finland started strong in the first 10min and then Sweden got their play going in finnish zone for the remainder of the first. Finland was more dominant in the second. In the third period Sweden really pushed hard and I think it was 26-3 in shots to Sweden. As expected the game went to overtime. Sweden had the puck control in the beginning and held on to it and then they got a powerplay. I had no expectations that Finland would be able to kill it off. But they did. The 4 vs 4 play suited Finland better and then they got a penalty with around 90 sec left on the clock. One shot hit the crossbar by player "22" and then Finland actually won a faceoff and a very sneaky great play from the finnish player went in the net. As usual people from USA, CAN, SWE look at the rosters and determined that FIN wouldnt be able to beat USA, SWE or even be in the gold medal game. But time after time Finland proves that they know how to win. It aint always pretty but they get the job done. Regarding the calls by the refs I would say they missed one high stick that I believe was in the second period and they made a controversial high stick call later. I would say that makes it even. In the overtime Im not a big fan of someone getting a penalty and I dont know the rules that well but I wouldnt really think that It was worthy of a penalty on Sweden for the pushing/holding. Either way Sweden had their shot at winning the game on their own powerplay in the overtime and they couldnt get the job done. Finland got their chance and finnished it. In my opinion its not any fun when a game is decided on penalty shots but thats the only way Sweden would be able to win a gold medal. Our goalie Rimpinen was playing out of his mind in this game.

The goalie was the difference and the last piece that has helped Finland go all the way before. I think Rimpinen is going to have a very solid NHL career when he's ready to go play there.

its never about statistics Like the number of shots and stuff, If you shoot a 100 times from a bad place with easy saves to the goalie doesnt make a better team. We have seen it many times like the 2019 WC Finals where people were saying Canada was so much better with so many shots but i still see Finland was a lot better defensively and strategically and Canada wasn't a real threat to the team at any point of the game. And then Finland beat a team of high level NHL'ers with a team that was gathered mostly from Finnish league and other European leagues.

Its amazing how Sweden was able to lose. They had superior movement and puck control in the third period. It looked like they would win easily at least when they got the OT powerplay. And for anyone complaining about the penalties there was a clear high sticking by a swedish player in the last seconds of a period. I dont remember if it was first or second but anyway there was but no penalty.

I believe it was on Konsta Helenius, that was clearly missed and the high stick later didnt look like a penalty but I guess you could say that they made it even. Swedens boxplay was terrible this year

As a Finn who watched the whole game I can say that Petteri Rimpanen the finnish goalie deserves the mvp award cus we didnt deserve the win without him and I just checked his stats in the 2025 junior world cup he had a unbeliavable 93.2% save chance and with that I think he will be in nhl soon.

The essence of hockey: KISS. Take your momentums and strike when it counts. As a underdog, Finland was able to follow that rule. Great goaltending did help a lot also. This is something that has been lost in many hockey following fans, who only see players as individuals.

I have said many times in the past that Finland always plays hard without whining and being sore losers. They had a goal called back. They got some questionable penalties yet they remained focused on doing what needed to be done. On the other hand, Sweden seems to always be concerned about bad calls and making excuses. The only way the two countries are similar is in their location geographically. I'm glad to see Finland against USA in the gold game. I predict Czechia will squeak by Sweden to get the Bronze. I'm American so my feelings are split on the gold game. As an American I have not ever witnessed a Canadian team so badly assembled and having such poor execution. Two years in a row of the same kind of heartless hockey. I think Hockey Canada ought to do some serious self reflection.

Sweden got away from many missed calls - And Sweden was in this game in.the first place because it got away in the last game too (the refs stole it from Latvia). Those Finns clearly deserved the victory. I'm not a big fan of the Finns but Sweden clearly got the refs on their side during this whole tournament (so many missed calls)

You hate to throw one player under the bus but Thelin has not had a great tournament in net. Two goals tonight that beat him short side, he got bailed out by the offside on the first one, but in OT no such luck.

Not as much passion for the game as in Finland and Sweden, Denmark also has some more than Norway. Maybe they like other winter sports more. In Finland hockey was a huge deal even before we we're winning any of the tournaments

The last 10 years the gold has gone 3 different countries: Finland has won 3, USA 3 and Canada 5. After the next final it will be again one of those (Finland or USA). The key highlight - the total garbage call against the Swedish defender in OT - should have been shown. The IIHF officiating has been better since the dark days of 20 years ago, but the inconsistency in this tournament has brought us back to those days. The Canadian Juniors weren't prepared, and were justifiably penalized.)

It was combination of holding and refs missing 2 potential penalties earlier in ot. By itself I don't think they would have called it, but they let Sweden free 2 times before, so they kind of had to call this.

I'm an American and I can hardly believe how incompetent the selection process was this year for Canada. I live right near the border and have friends in Canada. The country has become a completely lost cause under their PM. I'm surprised parents can afford to put their kids in hockey over there. I sometimes visit friends and cannot believe how in only a few years the country went from well off to there being tent encampments everywhere you look.

Unfortunately they fell to same hole that they did against Slovakia and started going on their potholes and defend the lead, that gave Sweden their momentum. Canada was a train wreck. The entire country is a disaster. Trust me, I live on the border and travel there to see friends often. The country has become a 3rd world country under their PM Trudeau.
