1:59 - That's Carolina Chocolate Drops (band) that nobody in the comments seems to have noticed. They're a pretty funny band - the female vocalist is pretty impressive.

The actual Blue Ridge Parkway is contained entirely in 2 states, North Carolina and Virginia.

@@ericriffel8954 Technically yes, but there are offshoots in both TN and GA in the mountains. Cherokee may be the official end, but lots of beautiful drives that go into the TN Smokies as well as that nice area of NE GA. Another beautiful road is the Natchez Trace Parkway that runs from Nashville, TN to Natchez, MS.

0:17 what you are looking at is the Linn Cove Viaduct, a one of a kind bridge that wraps around the beautiful, mysterious, breath taking Grandfather Mountain located in Linville, North Carolina.

Thank you! Is it only that short section that you are driving with a view over the tree tops like that? An old friend who has sadly passed away told me about part of the park way where you drive thru/above the treetops. I've always wanted to visit that part(and whatever else I found to explore along the way).

@Gardner Barnes I love that road, I had the misfortune of meeting one of the state's finest a few years back when I thought 65 was a more fitting speed for the day. Cost me $700. But you are so right...why speed? It's so pretty, you won't want to miss a part of it.

@Gardner Barnes actually he was alright, I deserved the ticket. I was riding quite aggressive and as you are aware this is not a road to do that stuff on. I have since riden it many times oñ my way to deals gap, or little Switzerland. It's my favourite road just too bad I'm canadian.

I wrote you to employ you, think about this letter for a while. This story of heartfelt apologies to the mountain memory and the Mountains themselves, please. To be said "out loud" and so some can morn the memory because of another old pathway's death. Trails of history are gone from our eyes to a place in our hearts. A memory of those once old pathways travel were adventures on a twisted winding road to my beloved mountains that were carved by God's fingers, my dad said can you see the dips and fallen rock, then lead to the story of the falling rock, the little boy who couldn't be found, so we watched for Falling Rock on a steep winding road. My beloved mountains, I am sorry but Progress says there is no need for the oldest beloved road, dismissed, once trails that were cut out even by some deaths meant nothing or remembered ... You and I, and some others know it was the old pathways of life My beloved Blue Ridge you allowed us to not just travel on our journey but have the wonder and fear of true movement on your sides to the top. In the year, 2022, Progress has claimed your Grace, where Creation allowed the passage but Progress wants to cutting off more of your beauty. Now, Progress asks for "just a little bit more" again. So, some of the oldest trees, herbs, and other life that survived many decades of growth that sheltered a harvest of animals and other things are all displaced. I witnessed one little black bear trying to make sense of it all; I felt bewildered too. My thought was isn't that the point of it all. My thought old thing at the death always leaves us lacking in old the ways leaves our mind's eye lost because Progress has taken the visual as well as a life to tell the lie " things are better." Progress does not honor or respect movement feeds on the death of old pathways, the shelter of all meanings that were learned and taught and it all was a lie, new is not better if you teach the old ways, the change is but a death of old to ensure the new. (Parkway teaches old ways that is the point) Progress taking all history of these pathways on parkway lies and the old ways are Beloved ways in all paths and roads we use this Beloved Mountain trail as we are teaching those ways to this very day, all movement should be visual not just stories, but places where knowledge is part of that. Progress once again changes learning the trails of old winding twisting roads. The survival stories shown by the experience, by the movement while traveling experiencing these stories. A faster movement teaches no lessons but a " Twisted old mountain Road" we have privy too, will be a lie because old mountain trials can never be new, first the old must die and the new takes the place. Progress will now " take" part of your physical beautiful memories (there is where he went of the mountain ' cause he had bad tires in that year we had bad snow; yonder is where the spring water was collected off the mountain, when daddy brought us through, the apple trees are up here let's stop and pick some of that path) "visual " stories that had a place, a whereabouts for the show of it, all can be told by visitors to keep lessons and memories alive, visitors and residents who felt "Creation of Beautiful Grace in these mountains " by the old pathways. I am heartfelt, sorry, I know others will cry too the oldest cut trails and roads, the most honored ways are almost gone. Now, Progress has claimed that right I again now weeping say, I am sorry. Progress has taken Beautiful Creation and calls it by a new name Progress. Goodbye my beloved mountain, I see that Progress will in the future ask for more. I tried to tell this story as an apology from my heart and I two know it will fall on death's ear. Edith Roberts

How is it at night? I heard that you could see the Milky Way at night. Is that true?
@static612
@static612 5 жыл бұрын
@@georgew7405 you can see the Milky Way from anywhere once you get out of the lights of the city. It kind of looks like a faint stream of clouds in space once you see it. Look for Cassiopeia (looks like a big W) or Betelgeuse which is Orion's higher shoulder. If you find those and it's dark enough you should be able to see it.
