It's so cool hearing Finneas talk about this. It's crazy because I had a completely different interpretation of the song, that focused on the line "how the hell did I lose a friend I never had?" I kind of thought the song was about him feeling like he's missing something or he lost something, that feels like losing a friend, but it's kind of abstract and represents arbitrary struggle and sadness.

I lost one of my best friends about half a year ago and I can’t listen to this song without crying. I found it when I was still reeling from the loss. The worst part is still having to see them regularly because of school and mutual friends. I blamed myself a lot for what happened, and the bridge hits so hard. Hearing Fin work through each verse and voice every bit of the pain and grief I felt back then is extremely helpful for my healing process. Re-contextualization, yk? For everyone here who also relates to this song, I send light, love, and strength always. And Fin, on the slim chance you’ll ever see this comment, thank you.
