I like the stories how you met your wife and how you and Joe met at the boat races. Good stuff Mike. It was interesting to hear about your parents boat, i think you said a 1971 Rogers with an Olds 455, and it would only go 69mph no matter what. I now know why you hate Olds engines, although they are and always be my go to favorite for nostalgia reasons. If by chance, some day, you give another go at an olds 455 ill tell you the secret to making them live...its the moroso 10qt flat bottom trap door oil pan. Not only myself, but also witnessed a few others with olds powered jet boats wave bye bye to engine oiling problems with this pan. My next goal is to figure out how to run that same pan in a car without having to cut up my 442 fromt crossmember too severely. Nothin' like getting up early on Christmas Eve and watching a new video dropped by Finnegan's Garage! Merry Christmas to all!

Many years ago when all you had was a dream of owning a badass Chevy Gasser with a blown hemi in it, you probably thought it would be just nothing but basking in coolness. You had no idea of what an incredible amount of work it would require, which now somewhat clouds the experience. I went through that when building my airplane. Hopefully it will be eventually dialed in to a level of reliability that will allow you to soak in the coolness that you've earned with all the hard work.

These clutch slippers are one of the most frustrating things to get setup correctly, once you do get it, they are amazing. I used the hitmaster on my car and it was definitely a learning curve of adjustment (manual, not through the EFI like yours) and it still was trial and error like you had. My next build Im just going auto because I want to enjoy the actual racing more than constant breakage and adjusting these things to be competitive. A lot of folks talking about getting a slipper clutch like Leroy, but the only way to tune a slipper clutch to a given track prep, is to add weights through the bell housing which is not convenient, and even then its a trial and error process.

E85 is definitely harder to get started when it’s cold. You basically have to hold the injectors open while cranking. I personally don’t like doing that so a couple shots of brake clean to get it going and let it get some heat and it’s good for the rest of the day usually. I live and race near Cleveland Ohio and spring time and fall time on E85 can be challenging.
@jfv65

I agree. I used to have a turbo Volvo that i had converted to E85. In wintertime (any temp below lets say 5C) it was always a b*tch to start the engine. But once it ran it ran sooo good! I still miss that car.

When properly tuned for, E85 can easily start in any weather on the first crank. Coldest E85 start I've done was at -35F with a subaru EJ engine, fired up first crank, coughed a little out the exhaust from being a bit lean and smoothed out after a couple minutes.

It has really created interest in the car and drag and drives. I've been googling drag race chassis for various platforms. I'm a stick shift H pattern purist, something about grabbing gears is more fun than a paddle shift dct or a manual valve body auto. I inderstand the argument behind them, I just want the fun and satisfaction of grabbing gears. If it were easy everybody would be doing it. Keep on testing and refining the recipe. You'll get there.

The Bang Shift Billy sounds promising, but, I do maintenance on hydraulics and when the weather is cold, I've learned that hydraulics exposed to the outdoors can be sluggish and unreliable. Is this device+clutch being affected by ambient temps as well as clutching duration and frequency? I mean, you're making adjustments to milliliters of fluid by the thousandth of a second. Feels like a set of conditions prone to unpredictability.

All you have to do is plug in while you’re u loading your trailer and in 15-20 the heat in your water will help the car fire right up. E85 likes the oil being warm so with the heater it warms all that up like you’ve already had it running for lil bit. I hope you didn’t get a ton of comments from saying this dang KZbin kept erroring out on me lol and knowing my luck you’ll see this 20 times lol

The Bangshift Billy is a proven tool, you can really feel the frustration on both ends as the car doesn't seem to be reacting like it should to the changes. Ok ive commented maybe 3 times on this vid. In the end i still feel the same as the last comment made... Dump that trans and put the old one in. Shouldnt need an electronic device to slip a diaphragm clutch. Its got a "spring” built in by design. Just go out there and dump the clutch appropriately and whatever breaks is the weak link. That g force modded thing you got is not the hot setup. There are 3500 pound nostalgia super stock Fords that have a 128 inch wheelbase that dont break parts and carry the front hoops thru 3rd gear. C'mon Mike you can and will do better than this. Love ya man. Merry Christmas and gappy 2024 new year. We are all gonna need that wish for the coming new year

While watching the vid at around 37:45 and suddenly...my brain went into overload. Looking at the dash of that 55, Mike I realized at 54 years old I may never get that feeling of freedom driving ones built hot rod and that adrenaline one gets just from looking over the dash and the car moving under it's own power... especially on the street but also at the track. I hate the fact that there are powers to be trying to bust us all down to a 2 class system...super rich or everyone else. Things have went so bad for the past 10+ years for myself, I'm almost certain I'll never get that feeling again which I used to have every single time I drove my 442

As far a noise in a truck i have no idea how to make the door seals better , i installed a set of door seals on my old second gen dodge ram diesel . I use some seals from LMC and i not a expert and i had some noise . However when i installed a g56 transmission the noise was significantly more from than the automatic. So i used some kilmatt or whatever it's called and lined the transmission tunnel under the carpet. That made a huge difference in noise . If you wanted to go to the trouble pulling seats, carpet door panels ect that sounds deading materal seems to help at lot .. enjoy the videos

Cleetus runs a slipper clutch in Leroy. Not sure if it's suitable for your setup but it seems like way less of a hassle. K.I.S.S.

That’s definitely the way you have to go for real fast stick shift, but the adjustment of a slipper clutch is a lot more work and they aren’t as streetable. Bill and his good friend Rich have 2 of the baddest street cars, mid 8 seconds, stick shift at 3,600lbs, and they put thousands of miles on a year, that’s probably where Mike wants to be with Blasphemy.

@@philb5593Rich runs a slipper. Not the BSB. A slipper is totally streetable. Just have to add counterweight and/or base. Super easy!!!

There are a couple of ways to fix leaky door seals. If you’ve got the gap as good as you can through all the usual means and still no luck try the following. Paint the area of where the door will seal with Vasoline or rubber grease or anything similar even lard will do. Just apply a thin layer that will transfer to the door seal when you Gently close the door. Examine the seal for dry spots. Then depending on the type of seal and how it mounts space it out so that it will properly contact the sealing flange. You can use sealing tape to lift the seal up or inject the seal with calking compound whatever is most appropriate. If it’s really bad try this. Wrap the door seals with food wrap. Then go around the door frame with sealing compound. Put masking tape up to keep over spill out of the cabin first. Gently close the door and allow the sealant to set. Open the door remove the food wrap from wherever it is stuck and trim off the over spill with a razor blade. This method is ugly and can wear out in high traffic areas but it is better than leaks.

Fun fact: Some BMWs has a slow clutch engagement feature from the factory. Pretty interesting. Obviously it's not configurable as yours is here. Also, I don't understand why you were adding delay to the BSB. Wouldn't you want as little delay before the clamping slope as possible?

you need to put an anchor for a snatch block at the back of the trailer , run the winch cable thru it and hook the cable to the front axle of blasphemi and use the winch to unload it instead of Joe having a heart attack pushing it.
