How they displayed sprites on border (vertical bars at beginning)? Or maybe there is no border (but sprite mimicks border)??

you need to write something into Vic-II on every scanline ( open side borders) . Interesting that they can do this despite the bad lines. Maybe they convert the text to bitmap graphics and then suppress the bad lines? I really wished CBM would have put more effort in the microcode of the VIC. Optimized loading of sprites and spread-out bad lines! Who needs a bad line at every line?
