When WW2 and the Winter war started, Finland had German/Austrian M16/M17/M18 as standard issue helmet. Sohlberg was much less common and it was mostly issued to Civil defence and home front troops.

Very well done Devin, it's always great to see interesting helmets used by different countries. Seeming as you did the helmets I don't suppose you could do a uniform video if you have any uniforms.

Did the Finnish remove the helmet lugs on their m16-18 and austro-Hungarian helmets given to them by the Germans. I’ve seen quite a few with their lugs missing
@DevinKАй бұрын
@@Boba_Tea20250 well the Austrian m17 did not have the lugs on it nor did the German m18 the only one that had the lugs was the m16 and most of those were retrofitted by the Germans after the war.

I've seen examples online of Finnish Adrian helmets. I haven't been able to find to much information on them. I was wondering if you knew the amount they used and how they made into service in Finland.

@@DevinK the strange thing is most places where they have records of the helmet quantities don't mention the Adrian helmets.

Back in 20s Poland sold some surplus Mosin rifles, Russian pattern Maxims and other equipment to Finland. Thre might have been some German helmets in there because they are gone from army use.
