Great narration,great vid. I do not consider them garbage. Their simplicity and robustness later on would be copied in all soviet guns. I have a mint Tula 91/30, M38, m44, Finn capture 91/30, and a 91/59. They are great rifles and ammo has always been cheap. But its always a good habit to run sweets 7.62 or ammonia through the barrel right after shooting because most surplus ammo is corrosive. A friend of mine years ago who passed away who went by the online name REDSTAR, literally had a collection of 100's of different types of Nagants. The mans collection of C&R was museum size. I don't know how he stored so many rifles in a walk in closet but he was a pro on everything "Mosin Nagant". He would love these videos. RIP Rick Peterburs...

The whole "garbage rod" thing is kind of a meme at this point, and I say it on these Finn Mosins in jest to the author of the book I used (he is a friend). Sounds like your friend was one hell of a pattern collector.... I bet you probably lost a good source of knowledge when he passed.

I bought that book also and have a Finnish M91 I acquired at an estate sale. I don't believe they knew what they had and got it at a decent price.

It is an awesome book, and the author is a good guy. Congrats on the acquisition!

To be perfectly clear, there is nothing garbage about a Mosin Nagant. The action is about as strong as they get, and they will persist under the worst conditions. The Finns got a hold of them and made them even better. Good vid otherwise.

The Finns would’ve made it all the way to Moscow if they had fully adopted the M38 Carcano.

I read that they liked the M91 more than the M38.

@@sixgunsymphony7408Idk about the M91 or if many were actually used by the Finns but they absolutely hated the 38’s.

Take a guess at what I have coming in this week :) (and I also ordered the oversized pocket knife as well which actually cost more than the rifle).
@sixgunsymphony740810 ай бұрын
@@GarandGuy2553 I knew that, M38 had a fixed sight for what might have been 200 meters. OK for a carbine, but the Finns were riflemen and wanted adjustable sights for greater distance.

The Finns weren’t trying to go to Moscow though, and they hated the Carcanos they had (mostly due to ammunition issues iirc)
