In Finland, basic police training lasts three years and there are many different areas to study, including first aid.

And there’s military training or career before it.

First aid education is pretty common in Finland on many levels. We teach kids in schools, most people who get a vocational studies education and many people get the training who work with people in any occasions. You notice the civilian on the scene was already doing what was a correct move to stop the bleeding. I have participate to first aid education three times: you get a degree from it which is valid for two years and then you have to do it again. For police i am sure it is a central part of their skill set to know first aid.

Even construction workers do Red Cross first aid training in Finland. You learn it in the army, in health and sex ed classes in school, most vocational school trades learn it, and ofc every security, police, fire & rescue etc. that may be the first responder on a scene learn it.

They're blurring people because it's a TV show and people need to give consent to be shown on TV (except if it's just random people passing by in some public place).

surely it's essential for police to know atleast basics of responding to injuries. If you have get a call that there has been a violent altercation most likely you will need to react to some injuries too
@pohjantuulet247Ай бұрын
Regarding your question about the camera. Some police officers carry bodycams or some other similar surveillance equipment, in the event that using the captured footage could help an ongoing investigation. Like in this instance, where they are recording the crime scene, using camera equipment to collect evidence.

They what you call doctors are 1st response unit, basically trained nurses for that job. Nurse training here is high education as is police. Not university but almost same level.

Emergency first aid isn't very hard to learn, just airway, berthing, bleeding. Arterial bleeding can be frightful to witness, get your finger in there and try to fashion a a toucanet out of your belt or any item of clothing (to be fair a dissected subclavian artery has nowhere to place it). All that can learned in 10 hours of intensive training, and the response time of an ambulance is around about 5-ish minutes in metropolitan areas in life threatening situations.

In finland, normal people have to try to help injured or someone who is in trouble, aka auttamisvelvollisuus. That is why schools teach first aid and how to get help

They have probably learned first aid skills already before studying them as part of their studies to be come police officers. People learn first aid skills in various activities; E.g. in scouts and during their conscription time.

Nobody knows what happened next. Tv cameras didn´t follow the victim to the hospital or the investigation to find the stabber.

Police officers do a very important job. Fortunately, there has only been one time when an ambulance was needed. The perpetrator was caught in half an hour and probably went to prison. Invented debt and beat me unconscious

I don't know the actual competence of general population but we get first aid training in school, then in army and some companies (at least the one I work for) organizes refresher courses for the employees. Also, I think all first responders including police and fire department get more in depth first aid training.

idk if it's required here for police to have cameras like these guys do, but it would make sense bc even if we are not in america it's still a huge position of authority. Recently there was a case where lots of security guards were humiliating and beating up innocent people but some of it was found on their camera, without it maybe nobody could have even found out
