I once thought it would be a good idea to just take a nap on a park bench after a long night drinking in different bars. Police came. Woke me up and asked wouldn't it be more comfortable to sleep in my own bed. And gave me a ride home. I'm sure there are many more stories like this in this country.

In Finland, police training takes many years. A lot of time is spent on psychology and social skills. For example, in the USA, training takes a few months and focuses mainly on the use of force. That's the difference

I remember those "hobos" from my childhood in Helsinki, last century it was, even last millennium. The happy-go-lucky homeless guys like this one on the video, warming himself with alcohol. Most of them were then in the 1960's and 70's scarred veterans of our wars, now long gone but not forgotten. Happy Independence Day 06.12.2024...❤🌹

I've also been driven home by the police a few times. His condition was pretty much the same as he is in this video 😅

I always talk to these old drunk people when they approach me. I know they are lonely and every little bit of friendly human interaction helps. They don't cause any trouble, like some people do that are into organised crime and hard drugs.

"Onko sulla muita omaisia kuin viranomaiset" = Do you have any other relatives than authorities? In Finnish it sounds the same, to be (omaiset=) relative or to be (viranomaiset=) 'relative by office' or holding authority

The guys are from crime investigating unit as they don't have the overall layout over their bodies that normal cops have. just a pistol/ bullet west and normal clothes

The real Nordic Noir! Actually, the first patrol was the tough guys, carabinieri chasing mafiosi. Well, they called the Helsinki poliziotti to take care of the local harmless very verbal guy...❤

I know you have liked some finnish songs that are touhcy and have deep lyrics so I would recommend a song called "pimeä tie, mukavaa matkaa" by Leevi and the Leavings. It propably doesn't have english translation but you could use like google translator for that. Leavings had also many other songs that are more well known in Finland so you could check some other music by them. Love ur vids 😀

In Finland, they act like their customer could be their relatives or old friend who have had bad day....

'Muita omaisia kuin viranomaisia?' Other relatives/close of kind than authorities?

Viranomainen is actually a nice word. Literally meanin "kin/relative by office/ service".

"Viranomainen" ei ole sukulainen, vaan tarkoittaa esimerkiksi poliisia. "Omainen" on sukulainen.

In my experience the Finnish cops are polite and professional if you are polite and nice to them, but there are some a-hole cops, 95% are professional. Only once a cop assaulted me, he was mad and was walking me to the back of the car and suddenly pulled me back from the shoulders and kicked me in the back with his knee. I did not give him a reason to do that.

Usually they are paired with worlds most polite and patient police and some other police who is ready to take a fight, so no matter how situation evolves they are ready.

You mentiuoned blurring the face. This was from a show where the television crew followed the police to show their work. But they had to stop these shows now, because legally it was considered still to be an infringement on the privacy of the customers of the police.

For finnish police the people are customers, for American police see people as suspects and criminals.
