adding another vote for Morissette's video (also done in the WISH music bus) of Akin Ka Na Lang for a reaction video - your reaction and analysis is done with such insight and a wonderfully *_POSITIVE_* approach 🧡 - you also have the ability to demonstrate/provide accurate vocal examples of things you are pointing out/explaining with words - it's refreshing to see a reaction video done this way by someone with a qualified music background 👍🏼

Anna, as a matter of fact she was sick this day and she went ahead and performed as scheduled as she didn't want to disappoint anyone. Morissette's vocal type is a lyric soprano with five octaves and four notes (G♯2 - C6 - D8), making her the singer that has the widest known vocal range in the Philippines. One of Morissette's most distinctive vocal features is her ability to sing in the whistle register with ease. Hope you react to more of her, all of her Wishbus performances were record breakers and she just recently released an EP that is just pure gold!

I'm amazed when vocal coaches can detect that she was a little bit sick with this rendition. It's a known fact among her long time fans but for a first time listener I guess you can really tell with the breathing. Anyways, lovely reaction and analysis. I hope you do more reactions of her performances. Btw she has no professional training whatsoever. And you're right, she's done theatre once before and she's covered some broadway songs.

I had completely forgotten someone mentioning that before. I had assumed the gasp was on purpose for effect. It's definitely a thing among Japanese singers of certain genres. She does nasalize slightly. Is that her cold too.
@yoojin38773 жыл бұрын
@@cyberpotato63 Her vocal chord closure wasn't what it normally is in this video. I can hear it it some of the onsets throughout the video. Not bad, just not up to Morissette's usual. Where do you hear the nasality? Not asking to challenge you; I'd like to know so I can go back and listen for it.

Fantastic breakdown, as always. Morissette's warm voice and agile runs are great, but the non-vocal-coaches call her the Philippines' Mariah because of her jaw-droppingly effortless whistle register, which she didn't use in this song. It's on full display in her original "Akin ka na Lang" and "I wanna know what love is", which are definitely worth a listen.

@Zasaramel3 жыл бұрын
I've seen a number of vocal coaches reacting to Morissette and I believe I can give you a handful of songs that would showcase her ability as well as give you plenty to analyze since it seems to be part of your style of reactions. *Fly Like a Bird*- This is a Mariah cover that she recorded at home with a friend. She makes a handful of stylistic changes to make it her own but also showcases her full range. From lower all the way up to her whistle register. *Asia's Song Festival 2017* video- This Is a full live performance that has great sound quality because it was shot by the production team. 2 songs, one a ballad style that has all the belting you could ask for. The 2nd is another Mariah cover that has a full spectrum of vocal tricks from runs, belts, and whistle register all while dancing and performing for the crowd. Morissette just recently finally released an album of all original songs called Signature. Each of the songs from that EP has different vibes and you wouldn't go wrong listening to any of them but all of them would showcase a lot. I recommend listening to the versions of those songs with the tag " Live from RX93.1 Monster Anniversary Concert 2021 " because 1. They are done live. 2. The instrumentals aren't as overpowering so you can really hear the nuances of her voice in each song. 3. They vary just slightly from the recorded version in all the right ways because she is usually better while live.
@allengje3 жыл бұрын
I endorse all these suggestions (although I wouldn't say Fly Like A Bird shows her lowest register).
@Zasaramel3 жыл бұрын
@@allengje Yeah, I got kinda mixed up when typing it all out. Didn't mean to say lower register. Just that she has this interesting lower tone, almost whisper like head voice with a jazzy vibe.

Great reaction and analysis of her vocal technique! This cover was even taken down as it has surpassed the original song in terms of views. Many vocal coaches have considered this as better than the original with due respect to Andra Day. Morissette sung this with all emotions as she does with all her songs - covers or her originals. You may want to experience her musical journey from the start by reacting to her older renditions before listening to her new songs released a few weeks ago. Take your subscribers and listeners to this fantastic musical journey of Morissette’s musicality. And I’m pretty sure that her uplifting songs will be on your daily playlist.
