Geoff has a massive 4 octave range, he shows it in his tutorial video on how to sing low notes. He is probably the one person that most people listen to Voiceplay for but they really miss the pure tones of Cesar, the rock belt of Eli and the kickass sounds from Layne the beatboxer. The group as it is now is well suited and they harmonise so well, it's not surprising that they are award winners. Layne also does the initial mixing as well and passes it on to a professional mixer for the final tweaks. The result is, as you can hear, something that makes almost everyone raise an eyebrow in surprise.

Geoff defines himself like a bass baritone or bassitone , last note was an astounding subharmonic E1 . Brava ;)
@Tryst463 жыл бұрын
I'm sure that was lower than E1. I can go down to E1 fairly easily and I really struggled to get that last note in the Oogie Boogie song. In contrast, Geoff does his own version of "Misty Mountains Cold" where he hits an E1 at the end. That is at least a couple of notes higher than this one.

VoicePlay is masterful at mixing silly and professional; it's kind of their schtick. And Geoff- the bass singer- has around a five octave range. The descent that he does at the end actually spans from B4 to a subharmonic E1 (and those are neither his highest nor his lowest notes). He really displays his range and versatility to great effect on his solo channel, where he performs songs in a 4 or 5 part harmony, using his vocals for all parts. The results are amazing. And VoicePlay- all of the other guys are just as talented as Geoff. At the time of this video, I think they had all (with the exception of J. None) been singing together for nearly 10 years (Geoff, Layne- the beatboxer, and Earl- the guy with the beard all grew up together and have been singing as a group since about 1997). But what I've noticed over the last year, as they've had gaps in their lineup and brought in feature artists, is that they are exceptionally skilled at blending with just about anyone. All of their features fit in seamlessly, as though they'd been with the group for ages.
@leechowning27123 жыл бұрын
Geoff calls himself a Baritone, however his range extends from a subvocal B0, literally within steps of the end of a piano, all the way to e5. VP are as dedicated to Halloween as Pentatonix is to Christmas, and well worth watching. Wish you well, and happy Hallows Eve.

Voiceplay has really stepped up their game over the last year especially. My favorites are Hoist the Colours, Halo Theme Song and Warriors.
@Tryst463 жыл бұрын
The Halo theme I didn't find as good, there are no words in it though, so it's mostly harmonising rather than singing. They are good at harmonising, but I prefer when they sing a song. Hoist the Colours is probably their best yet. They are going to have to go some to beat it in my view, but knowing Voiceplay, they will beat it.

One to listen to from Voiceplay is "Hoist the Colours" from the "Pirates of the Caribbean 3" movie. The harmonies and arrangement in that resulted in almost every reaction video with silence as they are left completely speechless by it. Geoff Castellucci, basso extraordinaire. 5+ octave range, has hit a B0 (in Voiceplay's new Halo Theme video). All of their stuff is very theatrical. Geoff and Layne (the beat boxer) do almost all of the arranging. Unusual for an acapella group to have a bass as their lead singer. Great reaction as always...

They're one of the Big Three a capella groups out there right now, with Pentatonix and Home Free. For some reason though, they don't get as much publicity, but they are easily as talented. (Personally, I like their style far better than the other two, but your mileage may vary.)
@Tryst463 жыл бұрын
@@CynicalTesuji Personally, I think Voiceplay easily beat the other two you named. Their style is far more varied, from family musicals like the Moana Medley right up to rock opera and more. Layne is a far better beatboxer than most of the groups I've heard, some of the noises he makes seem impossible for a human voice. Eli's rock belt is amazing considering he appears to be doing it without any effort at all. Cesar has such a pure and clear voice too, close your eyes and you would think it's a 12 year old singing. As for Geoff, well, he even does his own productions that really show off his range and versatility. When they pick a singer to accompany them, they adapt to the new voice so well that you would think all of them have been singing together for years.
@CynicalTesuji3 жыл бұрын
@@Tryst46 You're preaching to the choir, here. VoicePlay is far and away the better artistic option. They easily work twice as hard and take far more creative risks. That sets them apart as true artists, not merely performers (which, not sorry, is how I view Pentatonix).

Great reaction! There’s so much going on in this song I actually think reactors should run through it a couple times to pick out different parts. There’s a section where one (maybe more) of the background singers are doing these staccato arpeggios that are fabulous. Also Geoff, the lead and bass singer, does some really nice riffs in the background. It’s hard to appreciate it all going through just one time, but you nailed it on the best parts.

@@lkayh Please do! If you go back to immediately after Layne (beatboxer who is playing Zero in this) says "to add a little spice", you can hear Geoff do a short run (watch his hands - that is always a clue!). Geoff just released his cover of Monster Mash where he sings with himself self as Dr. Frankenstein, Dracula, Wolfman and the Frankenstein Monster. It is a lot of fun. One of my favorite recent pieces is Hoist the Colours from Pirates of the Caribbean 3. It is a virtual tapestry of sound. And it is performed with a brand new member as well as a guest collaborator. The arrangement (done by Geoff this time. He and Layne trade off with Eli (tenor 2) jumping in from time to time. By the way, Santa was played by Geoff's brother-in-law with Eli (Pronounced L.E. -short for Eliezar) doing the voice over. Subscribing in hopes that you will be covering more of both Voice Play and Geoff.

Oih, Voiceplay! Heillä on paljon teatteri- ja elokuvamusiikkia. Musavideot tuppasi ennen olemaan aika tylsiä, mutta viime aikoina he ovat panostaneet puvustukseen ym enemmän. Esimerkiksi Karibian merirosvoelokuvista tuttu Hoist the Colours. Amerikanmaan a cappellan kolme kovaa: kantrikutoinen Home Free, poppahtava Pentatonix ja teatraalinen Voiceplay. Kaikki erittäin hyviä ja taitavia - suosikki määräytyy ehkä juurikin musiikkityylin perusteella. Itse kallistun vahvasti Home Freen puoleen. Omia suosikkejani ovat Man of Constant Sorrow, Folsom Prison Blues (alkup Johnny Cash!), ja joulua lähestyttäessä Do You Hear What I Hear. Tiedän että tykkäät live-esityksistä.. yleisön kännyköillä kuvaamissa videoissa on yleensä surkea äänenlaatu, mutta Country Rebelin kanavalla on pari ihan hyvänlaatuista videota. I'm not a singer by any stretch of the imagination, but I still find that amazing.

Just wanted to say I really enjoyed watching this video! And wanted to compliment you-I’ve always been so jealous of truly bilingual people. Since I do not have this superpower, I have to use a translator: Tytöltä tytölle: olet upea. Jatka rokkaamista!

Анна, возможно вам есть смысл поближе познакомиться с творчеством господина Кастеллуччи. Например, он сольно исполняет старинную песню "16 тонн", составляя при этом квартет с самим собой. Anna, perhaps it makes sense for you to get to know Mr. Castellucci's work better. For example, he performs the old song "16 tons" solo, while composing a quartet with himself.

So you do appreciate acapella. This is another promo for Voctave. With 11 voices, Master arranger/founder Jamie Ray can achieve any sound he imagines but sometimes he wants to save all his instruments for the foundation and bring in featured artist from other groups. For the Disney Love Medely he invited Kirsten (from PTX) and her then-fiance/part time singer. This clip is from the first read-through with the guests. See how they react...it's special. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qJu9oa1metuhjJo

Another cover by the bass of this group is "13 Tons". It will blow you away. Also another group you need to cover is Home Free. VoicePlay competed against Home Free in 2014. I believe VoicePlay came in 3rd place behind Home Free. Maybe start with the cover of "Man of Constant Sorrow" that Home Free covers. Then they cover Boyz2Men's "End of the Road". These groups are all acapella. You should definitely react to Geoff's rendition of "The Misty Mountains cold", a song taken from The Hobbit's first installment. Geoff did the arrangement and sang all vocal parts himself and I don't think I've heard a better version of that song.

Love this version of the song, & great reaction. Thing I really love, I don't speak Finnish, but going by gestures, expressions, trying to work out your words. I think I get the general gist. But Love hearing the ways the mainlanders speak. Just wish I'd a better head for languages. I speak Felinese VERY well lol

VoicePlay on loputon kaivo, ei näistä saa tarpeekseen. Geoff Castellucci tekee bassocovereita omalle kanavalleen, suosittelen tutustumaan! Nyt, kun kuitenkin ollaan lähdetty a cappellan maailmaan niin haluan ehdottaa "Voctave - O Come, All Ye Faithful".

There are a few live performances of this on KZbin - even if you don;'t make a video, you show check it out so you know what they are like live - it's still amazing. You will also love some of their other offerings like the Littlest Mermaid or Moana [guess I should go and see if you have already done those]
