Eggs and Sausages were the names of two strongholds at the Kiskis hills. At first, the Finns conquered both hills, but after the Russian counterattack, they had to give up the Egg. Tiltu's road ( road from lake Röhö ) refers to two announcers of Soviet radio propaganda, who were called Tiltu by Finnish soldiers. In the continuation war, catering lotta Elsa Lampi served in the same unit at Uhtua as Erkki Tiesmaa, who wrote the song. She was the song's lotta "Lunkreeni", Tiesmaa changed the lotta's last name because Lampi did not fit into the rhymes.

The language used in it is in a way very relaxed, idk how to describe it, not very serious... It has dark humor in it while it has serious message and serious stuff, it still has the humorous tone in it, even in the lyrics.
@stalhandske96492 жыл бұрын
To me it's quite the contrary - the very un-warlike, cheerful feel of accordion tune makes martial music done to it all the more vicious. Hard to describe why, but nothing spells to me that merciless, hardened and purified-of-emotions grit of going to war than the joyful, cheery starting tune of _Säkkijärven polkka._
