Those huge leaves are actually FERNS growing on the ree's branches Finn. Thanks for the education Finn, a lot of Pinoys don't really know how sugar is processed. We learn something rom you every vlog! Antique is truly gorgeous so I think its time to visit my ancestors' province again! Its also great to see that they are teaching young people the art of weaving; I'd put a premium on their hand-made product!

I feel at home watching your video Finn. This is the view I see every time I go home from Iloilo to my hometown North of Iloilo. Beautiful green mountain ranges, rivers and a breath of fresh air. Many of my townmates from the U.S. went back to our hometown to retire and live peacefully. I'm looking forward for mine 20 years from now.😂

Hi Finn, another nice video - brings me back to my childhood days. Its been years since I've seen one, but that sure looks like an acacia tree, except I would have expected more leaves. The tree you highlighted is almost bare. The leaves should be small and roundish. and small pinkish flowers when they bloom, I recall. What you see . the part with wider leaves, are ferns that stick on the bark of the tree, and get sustenance (water and nutrients) from the tree itself. The ferns are a different plant specie, and can be found on other shade trees, also. Take care.

Sugar cane, weaving, and mountains? YES!!! Count me in! This was a lot of fun. I think it's nice to go off the beaten path and avoid tourist sites every once in a while. The sugar cane looked very interesting. I could watch the whole process of refinement; and for sure not get bored. I thought the weaving was a very intricate process. How do they change colours to create a kaleidoscope in the final product? The mountains, next time we'll have to go hiking there. I would love to see the view from the pinnacle. Thank you Finn, this was fun and very enjoyable.

PS The trees were epic!!!! I, too, have a fascination and love for trees. I was wondering, did they tell you what species it is? The vast reaching of its branches creates such a nice shade.

The cute leaves growing on the branches are a species of antfern, Lecanopteris genus. The shot was too brief to id the species. They have a symbiotic relationship with ants who hide in the root mass. There is another big group of ant plants in the Philippines that have a hollow basal tuber that hosts ants as well. Really wonderful and intersting plants. When I was in Bicol last May, I saw antferns growing on walls, palms and other trees. I loved your shots of Raflessia species and the Aroid with the purple inflorescence.
