Years ago I would have never considered listening to death or black metal. With it's bad rep of church burnings and corpse paint I wouldn't even go there believing it was all King Diamond knock offs. I can't tell you how awesome it is that youtube suggests you stuff and I click on so much random stuff I was introduced to this band. Love, Love LOVE it!

TheGreatBonus Let me clarify because obviously people do not understand my post. I am an old school thrash metal kind of girl. Black metal, death metal AND folk metal has a reputation of corpse paint, ridiculous costumes and the church burning. I would have never considered listening to them because I was judging them with my EYES or what society thinks about these particular genres of metal. What is missed in my comment is that I am not JUST talking about Finntroll. I'm talking about a slew of bands that youtube has introduced me to that I would have never considered listening to. If a friend had said "hey you should check out Finntroll" I would have laughed in their face the minute I saw the troll ears and chalked it up to being "crap metal" without even giving a try. When I found Finntroll I saw the album cover of Jaktens Tid not pictures of trollmen. I thought "hmm, what's this?" Jaktens Tid is such an AWESOME album. I fell in love with the band without knowing that that they dressed up like trollmen. Finntroll opened me up to other bands I would have never considered listening to that I now love. Turisas, Dimmur Borgir, Amon Amarth to name a few.

I have listened to a shitton of folk metal bands and I ahven't yet found one such extremist band that painted corpses. Not in reality, at least. Slaget vid Blodsalv really is about an army of trolls crossing a river of blood on warpigs and slaughtering christians, but if you listen to an interview with Finntroll, they are some of the nicest guys out there. And that's true for MOST folk metal bands I know. What you descriped is some pretty harsh generalization.
