I hope they all have a great time playing, and don't go too hard on you. I don't know about your family, they mine assumes I'll be good at games... knowing how to teach the game isn't the same as knowing how to play it well!

Game seems interesting. I would say that I personally am more a fan of Wingspan's method of writing out in words the abilities of the cards rather than relying so heavily on iconography like Finspan does. My extended family loves Wingspan, its the first game we always play and have played it hundreds of times. Of the dozen or so people that have played it in my family, I would wager more than half would have problems really grokking the iconography and even when they do, its likely to slip out and need to be relearned each time. And even then, I would say only three of us are game-brained enough for it not to be additional effort to use the iconography over just being able to read the ability in plain language. I get that traditionally this kind of thing is a production concern trying to make one edition that can we sold internationally or such. But between the names, flavor text, and ability type headers (when played/when activated/etc), I imagine they will still need a localized deck. It probably is cheaper to localize less text, but for my group, I think it will make it less likely to catch on. My wife is definitely going to buy it anyway, but I fear it will languish on the shelf subconsciously as a result of this iconography decision.

Many youtube reviewers already put this game on top and put Wingspan on the bottom of the “span” series, which is a “cult of the new” take. I dont understand why so many “reviewers” have issue witht the bird feeder, doesnt the game give enough flexibilty to exchange any 2 tokens to any 1 token? And pay cost with resources make senses, I am not a fan of playing card by paying cards. Its too bland and simple and not thematic at all. Also not really understand what is the purpose with playing with hands face up. Thanks to Rodney with an amazing tutorial video that help me confirm to pass on this game and only keep Wingspan.

Well it might be cheaper, but having icons only means kids that can't read can still play because they memorize what the icons do. Also I'm sure it's easier for non English first speakers.
@eepopgames27412 сағат бұрын
@@nerdyjawsh Several of the folks I mentioned would be classified as kids (my own and nieces/nephews). Maybe they are all anomalies, but they understood how to read the text of wingspan far better than they understood iconography similar to what Finspan is using in other games. I can concede the non english speaker point as it is outside my experiences. But I might counter that it is at least conceivable they might themselves prefer a copy with text written out in their native language rather than iconography.

Interesting difference from Wingspan and Wyrmspan that you cannot deny benefits to the table by denying them to yourself.

Hey, thanks for the interest. I tend to avoid giving personalized recommendations. What I like, someone else might not - but hopefully you see a few games on here that might be what you are looking for! And I suppose in this case: I haven't played it.

It should be. There was an example on screen that showed a card in an incorrect place, and I wanted to correct it after someone caught it. It should otherwise be up for good, but I will always pull down a video if I have a chance to correct something. I always want you to have full confidence that the tutorials here are as accurate as humanly possible.
