@@dreamingofnaomiyeah it’s correct, and guru deva was a real person as well who’s name translates like that, so it’s a specific line, but also a very good, general praise that anyone can apply to themselves ❤

@@anXiaryMusic 'Jai guru deva' basically means 'hail teacher god' or perhaps more precisely 'victory to teacher god'. There's nothing specifically about darkness or shining there. And the 'om' is just a general meditational vocalization, without very specific meaning.

@@kleedhamhobby I know all of that very well, I know what it means and you’re right, BUUUT guru Deva was a real person too. That’s factual and well known when you know about the Beatles and their time in Rishikesh. I don’t have to prove something you can google though, so maybe do that if you’re curious ;) I have the OM tattooed on me (Hindus don’t get tattoos, I know, I’m not Hindu) and I have translated the line myself with quite some research over 20 years ago when the song became my favourite Beatles song and I have lived among Hindus for 4 months in 1999. It takes a while to know the history behind the line beyond literal translation. Thx for the reply though ;)☘️
