Fiona Apple has never produced one. single. mediocre song...Everything she has ever released is beautiful, creative, and above her peers.

From Fiona Apple's mouth herself, during an interview: "With “Paper Bag,” I was in my father’s car - we were driving to the grocery store. and this is an idea of how long it takes me to deal with writing a song - this was, during the first album and i was miserable. (very cute laugh) and it was a saturday and me and my dad were driving to the grocery store - i was sitting, sulking...and I looked up into the sky and I saw this white dove! And I thought - I used to have terrible problem with uh, everything was a symbol to me...everything I saw meant life or death! And I look up in the sky sulking and I see this white dove, and think "OH! i--okay, Everythings going to be okay! White dove!" and I swung into this great high! and.... the dove started falling of course and...and it was a plastic bag! Just Trrraaaasssh...And so of course I just -dropped- again...and that stuck into my head and later on I was like - "Oh, the rule of my life! It always looks like its going to be great but its just a damned plastic bag..." and...you know, I made it a paper bag because paper sounds better (;P she giggles)"

No other woman brings chills like Fiona does when she sings. Often times, singers and lyricists who pour their souls out in such a raw manner do not produce songs like this. I agree, criminally underrated.

Very subtle but she always plays (or if someone else is on piano, has someone else play) a starting note in the key of the song to know what key to sing in when they come in.

I love Fiona! She may have her videos and exploits but I truly love her music. I don't often gravitate toward female artrtists but she is an exception. To be able to combine musical complexity, melodic pleasure, powerful lyrics, and tie it all up with a versitile voice and performing talent, what is not to love? If she stays at her current level of fame it will be a loss for the world of music but I will reap the benefits, knowing that I am seeing a world talent at local seating.

I feel so bad that I got to grow up with real music and the kids of today get Taylor Swift. The hardest part is her fans think she has depth. Taylor is the baby bath you put inside the bathtub for newborns. Even that shallow water is too deep for Taylor. There are so many examples of America dying but the juxtaposition between Fiona and Taylor sums up the dumbing down and demise of America. It’s heartbreaking.

I found out just now that this isn't a modern song. I'm shook. I've been obsessed with this song for months and the whole time I thought she was a new undiscovered singer just breaking into the "Industry"... I feel like my mind has just been blown. I once saw a meme of someone recommending Tame Impala as a niche indie band and I laughed... I guess I'm the real joke cause how in the world did I not look up Fiona Apple before today? Anyway, if you ever see this Fiona, your music is saved me. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
