It's fairly obvious those Wheelock chimes on Simplex 4903 light plates are replacing older bells or chimes that were flush-mounted. The school I went to for kindergarten had 6" Simplex 4090 school bells (that sound just like that stock "Premiere Edition" school bell you always hear on TV) flush-mounted behind grilles just like that.

I am betting that the Art Center at my friend's university has a Simplex 4007ES panel now. They used to have a Simplex 4002 system (installed next to a gutted Simplex 4208 used for terminal wiring). Some time back they removed the old Simplex 4051 horns and slapped TrueAlert horn/strobes onto the 4050-80 light plates, which suggests the 4002 panel was replaced as well.

A few Times, I've seen these Devices on 4904 plates and 4903-9101 Strobe Plates, But the more common Install(At least in my area, Are CH-70's on 2903-9101 Strobe plates That are Installed in Hospitals in my area, Most of the Systems In hospitals are Coded by Zone(Ex. Zone 1 = 1 Chime, Zone 2 = 2 Chimes), So these Installs Are Typical, But Some Places Use Voice EVAC Nowdays, Although Eaton Still makes Wheelock Remote Chimes/Speakers and The CH-70 Devices for Future and Cost-Effective Installs

@achannelwithnopurpose1977

Because, the purpose of the alarms are to get your attention and louder devices are much more effective at doing so. You wouldn’t be able to hear these devices if you were wearing headphones or were hard of hearing, so thats why they need to be loud.

How come there was only one 2903/9833 in The building (aside from the fact that all of the other A/Vs meet the requirements for having chimes in an institutional facility)?
@safetech
@safetech 6 жыл бұрын
I believe it was there before the chimes. Originally the facility had bells & horns. As noted by the old cover grates which the current chimes are affixed to in the original building.

Some of the Simplex Truealert Chime Strobes sound like System Sensor SpectrAlert Advance, and SpectrAlert Classic chime strobes. They also make the same sound like the SpectrAlert Advance chime strobes do when they power down I also really like how they're using a Wheelock CH70-24-RS remote chime on the Simplex 4903-9102 light plates
