This is not right. After you pull the sti stopper ALWAYS pull the fire alarm. The alarm of the sti stopper is just to alert that it’s been lifted. It’s not going to alert the entire building.

The only purpose is to alert people of a malicious fire alarm activation happening nearby, and thus it would be confusing if they were all wired and one activated as you wouldn’t know which one set it off. If you see a fire, lift the stopper, AND pull the fire alarm

For those wondering: the cover makes an alarm Incase of a small fire that can be put out, the small alarm will alert all nearby people, causing a saving situation. HOWEVER, if the fire is very big, and already beyond control, that’s when the building must be evacuated.

A couple months ago I was bouncing a small tiny ball on the floor straight up to me but then when it was coming up it was spinning super fast so when it hit the ground, it went flying forward and it hit that cover which sounded the false alarm which scared everyone around it but I didn’t get in trouble because it was deemed “an accident”

The plastic cover AKA the STI stopper is used to prevent false alarms and pull station damage. In order to activate the FACP and alert the whole building you need to pull the pull station. - a fire alarm technician
