Fire at the Station Hotel, Ayr, disrupts the rail service.

A significant fire at the Station Hotel in Ayr, Scotland, has led to prolonged disruption to the ScotRail service while the hotel is demolished/made safe.
This film was made in February 2024 and shows older pictures of the hotel together with the temporary arrangements made by ScotRail to serve Ayr and South Ayrshire.

Trains are finally back running south of Ayr from today, 1st July :) Class 37s were sent down the line to check the track condition last week..... which was a nice treat to see.

Have done that journey so many times when I was a boy. A favourite holiday location plus, we would go to the airport to hopefully see some American aircraft. Cheers

Passed by the Ayr Station Hotel yesterday. Bulldozers and crane busily demolishing it. It seems strange when you look east from Burns Statue Square and see sky where it used to be. The main road over the bridge beside it is fully opened now, which it wasn't before xmas.
