Hey there. Great video. May I ask what welding rods you used to do all your welding? Thank you.

I did not do the welding myself sorry! A local welder built the arch for us on commission

Great job, most of my brick work is mostly old red brick and concrete pavers. I like yours better!

Great video thanks for all the info. I just got my 2’ x 3’ boiler. It came with a 1inch thick white type of fire insulation. And fire brick. It came with enough of the insulation to cover every inch of the inside, but it did not come with near enough fire brick to cover the whole inside. in your opinion. Should I cover every inch with the insulation and cover all of it with fire brick? Thanks Fred

The more surface you cover with brick, the better you will be insulated. I would try to cover as much as you can without blocking your flue pipe or anything.

That’s kind of what I thought but I’m new to this. Thanks. I will insulate all of it and cover everything with brick.

Great video! How do you clean out the ash?
@ChanyataFarm2 жыл бұрын
Normally just use a little trowel to scoop out what is in the bottom, then at the end of the season I'll clean the whole thing. I use my shop vac connected to a dust cyclone /barrel so I don't clog the filter or fill the bag.

Looks awesome. Where do you sell your syrup? And is the firebox cool to the touch on the sides with brick/ insulation when a fire is going?
@ChanyataFarm3 жыл бұрын
So far I’ve only sold to family and friends. I haven’t had a fire hot enough yet to really get an accurate feel for how insulated the firebox will be now. But I’ll know here in the next couple weeks for sure!

Im curious, do you know the evaporation rate of your set up? This is very similar to what I want to build.
@ChanyataFarm Жыл бұрын
I would say we average around 10 gallons an hour. If we are really diligent with the fire that number climbs towards 15

Still loving your videos. My chickens have all but stopped laying. I'm only getting 1-2 eggs per day. In now have 76 chickens, 7 are roosters and 18 are only 4 weeks old. That still leaves me 27 layers that are not laying. I hope your having better luck in Ohio.

I added a light on a time inside the coop to trick them into thinking the days are longer. The light turns on at 5 am, adding two hours of “daylight”. I’m getting 10-15 a day from 25 layers
