I think dark humor has its place in most lifestyles. If not I guess I am just sick and twisted

Jason is clearly a smart guy, he knows what belongs and what doesn’t. He’s great at educating others through common sense, logic, and of course comedy. Fire Department Chronicles and Firefighter Now are easily the best channels on social media for positive and educational influence for public service and the general public.

Where I live, if you call 911, 9 times out of 10 the Fire department is the 1st to get to the scene. It doesn't matter what it is.

As a volunteer of 9 years this channel, Jason's channel and Fenton's channel, are not only hilarious, but accurate! Even as a volunteer, the things you guys talk about, along with the stuff in the videos. Is spot on and everytime I show my non first responder friends the content they just scratch their heads while I'm laughing histerically or soaking stuff in. Keep up the amazing work!

Jason’s Fire Department Chronicles never fail to make me laugh. It’s great to see him have a sit down conversation and explain how it got started and seeing another side of him. This guy is so relatable and like he said “there’s definitely one guy like him in every fire department across the world”

My dad had a mental breakdown, and I find a way to make it funny, 'cause he did some crazy things that day. My mum told me and my brother it wasn't a secret and that we were allowed to talk about it. Dark humour could also help people who aren't EMS etc, but go through potentially traumatic stuff.

One of the biggest changes in the Fire Service is the social / physical station changes in the last 10 years or so... THEN: No computers /cell phones and private dorm rooms... Those changes have caused ISOLATION that wasn't present "back in the day". NOW: Gnarly call, you go back to the station and everyone goes into their private dorm rooms... You have to process "that call" ASAP . Not talking / joking or acknowledging what you did, saw and feel will turn into a festering wound down the road. Just remember- YOU as Firefighters didn't cause the incident, you can only try to make a negative into a positive- you can't "FIX" every situation.

lol that question about how he became a firefighter reminded me of my unusual circumstances that got me on a volly department as a seasonal wild land firefighter for a type 6/3 engine, literally i was good at videogames and skated and this dude asked me to come up to north cal lmfao.

I thought he was a character. Now I know HE IS A CHARACTER!
@mitch34483 жыл бұрын
Personally I believe that as a society we grown to be more compassionate, accepting and understanding. This is of course a good thing but I think though, a downside is that we also are not as "hard" mentally because generation after generation does not have to deal with the hardships of those before. I think that has contributed to br one of the reasons mental health issues are more prevelant in society today. This is not the sole reason but I do think it's a big factor no one mentions because most people just want one clear cut answer.
@jeremiah.a48913 жыл бұрын
I totally agree. It really all comes down to whatever you decide to put yourself throughout life. If all you ever do is the bare minimum, then maybe perhaps your personality won’t be exactly hardened. If you’re doing the bare minimum, you won’t have as much character, as someone who does put themselves through a lot. Being assertive, and questioning everything, is what builds character over time. But we’re not seeing that as much today, because everyone is afraid of being ridiculed for voicing their opinions and or asking certain questions. And now we’re seeing a decline with overall masculinity between both men and females. Thickened skin these days, is either seen as toxic or problematic.

Just want to say I appreciate and apllaud the jobs public saftey workers including firefighters. Love dark humour the dark the better , I'm not in public saftey though , I am Englishman though so it's pretty standard over here well it used to be till the hypersensitive getting offended for no reason crows started growing. , I do have autism and dyspraxia and everyday day to day things are a big struggle for me and I've had mental health issues for years it's not serve but I'm used it now ( I know it's no way comparable to the mental struggle of the emergency service workers) so dark humour deffinetley helps . Being in any public saftey service dark humour is a necessity , you can ever laugh and banter about the terrible and evil shite in the world or sit in theoretical corner disappearing in mental prison you eventually won't be able to escape .

So as far as mental health one reason i believe it is more prevalent now is simply population. Compare our sheer numbers per capita of emergency services to public from say 30 40 years ago to now. We se it in our runs alone here in mich. Just as throughout the country we are out numbered and there are more bad things happening from extended war, school shootings, or peoples just blatant disregard for human decency. So it taxes us all more often on a day in day out basis. So ya we are getting past the suck it up buttercup times because a shift in our awareness but also the stuff is happening to a lot more often. We can see it in our military also. In times of realitive peace we have fewer cases of mental health issues. But during periods of war they go way up because we are - for lack of a beter term, overexposed to bad stuff.

In the diveshop that I was working a guy has done a salty joke about my mother the week after I've tried and failed at doing her C.P.R. In my lifetime, it's the pinnacle of dark humor that I've seen. I don't remember being that close to launching a stiff job in somebody's chiclets.
