Checking this out while trying to make the switch from LE to FD. 3 years on with a big city agency, and a friend at my rural hometown FD reached out and invited me to test. working 8 days a month, making more than I do now, and I still get to help people? I figured it’s worth a shot lol

These videos were posted a while ago, but I just wanted to say a huge thank you! This is the best content I could find regarding firefighter testing… and it’s free. What you do and your channel is amazing, you have helped so many people including myself. I began watching your videos when I started the fire academy a year ago. Now, I have been watching your testing and interview videos. I just tested for my first department. I passed the CPAT and got a 87% on my written exam. I wish I could have gotten my score a little higher, but all I can do is hope to receive an interview. I’ll keep you updated! Thanks again.

hey mike, i know im three years late to the video, but I had a question regarding workouts. I don't have a gym available to me, and no one around me really works out, so my motivation basically works in three to five day spurts before I just give up on working out. It's hard to fit it in with a school schedule. Do you have any advice? thank you

My biggest concern is that I have moderate asthma and use an inhaler and have been told both yes and no from people everywhere I've looked for answers. I know for a fact that I can do the job and deal with smoke and physical exertion as long as I use my medication which is a single dose daily. My condition is very well managed and i only ever run into trouble if i go off the medication for days at a time. The asthma has also greatly improved after a 75lb weight loss, which is also not really a measurable factor from a medical standpoint. Im really determined that I'll find a way somehow or somewhere even if I have to be a volunteer firefighter and can't be a career firefighter. I used to work for a small township with a volunteer fire department and the chief told me all I had to do was pass a physical test and have a drivers license. I really want to do this thing bad, but the path is so unclear for someone like me. Anyones advice would be great

When my dad was still doing his 24 hour shifts, on his days off he would teach at the fire academy. It was at the local community college. Now that he’s a deputy fire marshal he doesn’t have time to teach anymore.

I was lucky to be a volunteer department in jersey that had great leadership. we are busy and see a lot of fire and it's so nice to have a chief that trusts his company officers and not micro manage them and solely concentrate on commanding the scene by giving his instructions and make sure they are carried out plus all the other stuff that comes with being the IC . When the IC is focused one thing only like in the video arguing with the nozzle man he has lost focus on what is happening else where on the scene .

You lost a lot of respect from me with this one Mike. Where is this mainstream narrative telling young men to be "weak and docile"? I've only ever heard that from grifters when they're coming up with a strawman to bash. The scammers that you correctly identify as pushing men to be narcissistic, sociopathic woman abusers are the ones baselessly claiming that ""they"" want you to be weak and docile. You seem to completely misunderstand what toxic masculinity is too. Literally not a single person is saying that trying to improve yourself or move up in the world is toxic masculinity. Toxic masculinity is simply all the negative traits that are typically associated with masculinity. **Traits that you yourself likely recognize as bad** like: fighting, glorifying violence, sexual objectification, homophobia, taking unnecessary risks, promiscuity, self-deletion, etc. Some of these you even mentioned yourself. Similarly no one is saying that working out or getting stronger is toxic and wrong. If you read more than just the headlines of the articles you showed you'd know that. You're right that the obesity epidemic in America is a genuine crisis at this point but no one is fat because some stranger on the internet told them being fit is evil. There's a lot of misunderstanding of social issues in this video though you do accurately recognize some genuine issues. Who knows if you'll even read all this but just know that sometimes the truth can be made to falsely *appear* as though it's in the middle by deliberately misrepresenting the opposition.

HOLY CRAP the guy who was shot was one of my dad's friends. Though unfortunately, my dad did agree that he was most likely on some time of substances/alcohol and that the cop was only defending himself. Truly tragic, may God bless his family, especially his children and wife🙏

The enclosed fire is full of hot, low density air, while the outside is cool, high density. As the fire cools (starved of oxygen), it creates a low pressure region and draws in outside air. This air provides more cooling, lowering the pressure further, until it finds the fuel. Then the cool dense air is heated by combustion and expands rapidly, increasing the pressure and driving an explosion. This process is unstable, so it oscillates, or as you say "puffs".

From what I’ve heard don’t most firefighters make around 110 ? Because of all the overtime they work

Don't be "Behind the Chief's Back Guy." You don't like how something is going, talk to the chief, not his/her boss.

As a fire officer, here are the four things I tell our firefighters they should always assume on any scene or call: 1. You are being videoed/photographed. 2. Someone around you possesses or has consumed drugs or alcohol. 3. Someone around you has a gun/knife. 4. Someone around you is having mental health issues. -- Assume those four things and you will have good awareness of your surroundings. (Those four things actually can apply to any civilian, too.)

You're right, that pair did a great job. I was disappointed, however, that a 360 wasn't done prior to entry. All that said, hose man is definitely the most physically difficult job. The most mentally challenging job is the job of "doing nothing." Waiting near Command for an assignment when others are working is very difficult for alot of people. The undisciplined firefighter who can't do nothing is the one who ends up freelancing, and that can't happen. Thanks for the videos and the opportunity to chime in.

I nailed both the physical and written tests, thought I did really well in the interview, had several people commend my resume (military search and rescue), had good talks with several higher ups, have a clean record, don't have social media and am in excellentshape. They didn't hire me. I just don't get it man.
