Slowly watching fire engulf my Porsche Boxster that was running an Audi 2.7t engine. Took me two years to build. It wasn't insured for fire (very stupid of me).

Just been reading your Pistonheads thread on this. Seeing and hearing two of the loves of your life in the same scenario is a powerful combination. I am really glad for you that you captured the end of your Boxster's life on video. I am sure the pain of all that time, cost and effort coming to a sudden and dramatic end will in some way live with you for life - but at the same time your daughter's voice in the background provides that all important perspective about what *really* matters at the end of the day. And that perspective is not a result of belittling the size of what you lost but rather the enormity of what you've still got. It would not surprise me if one day you will look back on this and see it as one of the best things that ever happened to you. A belated thank you for sharing this.

Dude, OMG at least you're safe. This swap was so inspiring. Maybe you'll do another. Good luck with everything.

Heart breaking just watching it slowly burn. Why was the fire department so slow to respond?

Not sure this build ever treated you right, another project might be refreshing and more rewarding. Sorry about the fire, I'm subscribing to see if there's a next chapter I feel you'd do another unique build

So where/why did the fire start? Obviously in the engine bay, most likely due to the hot turbo engine's exhaust or was it electrical?

Crazy not having a distinguisher on hand for something modified like that.

I had 2 small 950g ones. Used both but they were a total waste of time, lasted about 15 seconds each. The problem was, couldn't get anywhere near the fire (and neither could the professionals). I've got a firestick now, hopefully I'll never need to use it.

Came here a total new follower, via pistonheads. Serious question, if you had a decent fire extinguisher available in the car, could you have made a difference or saved the car? I'm sure the little one came first and it was just better to keep her safe and let the car alone. But I've been putting off the for extinguisher purchase for my 996.1 coupe. It might be time to get one before the next road trip.
