Great video. No fluff and straight to the point accurate info. Nice work. Thanks. Are the tabs less effective when crumbled?

there is no big difference, so long as you gather it all together and burn it as one

I very rarely criticise a guy who carries out good tests on products. However, and there always seems to be a "however", a far better comparison test would have been to bring one pint of water/half a litre of water to a rolling boil , to make a decent cup of tea. Easily achieved with two blocks of heximine, a bit more difficult with two blocks of dragon fuel ! I know, I've used both. Give it a try and see what you think !

a rolling boil is subjective, when do you call it a rolling boil? waiting for a rolling boil would also mean looking under the lid frequently and that cools it down every time. so my test with a controlled time, controlled amount of fuel and never touch it once you have started until the time is up controls all those variables.

@@verysurvival Well, I don't want to fall out with you, BUT, a "rolling boil" is a concept well known to most folk that brew tea on a regular basis. Can I humbly suggest that you attempt the procedure. If using heximine the task is easily achieved without a lid on a container. I do speak with some experience of using this heating method several times, having been in the Parachute Regiment for 22 years ! When heximine changed from being manufactured in the UK, in the mid-1970's, a loss of calorific value was noticed, but was very slight. Trying to obtain the "rolling boil" with dragon fuel has proved to be difficult, even with a lid on the container. You only learn real things by doing them, I'm sure if you try my original suggestion you'll find this out for yourself. Have a good weekend.

As one main requirement is to boil water. Which is fixed temperature for both fuel types, and has some relivance. So why did you not test to that criterion? Ah, you wanted to show off your temperature probe. But at least now I know the temperatures reached after 4' for both these fuel types, should it ever come up. Baffling. But thank you for the efforts and I shall subscribe. Take care

How does this compare to cooking with either alcohol or paraffin oil?
@verysurvival3 жыл бұрын
It’s about the same. The handy thing with any solid fuel is you can always burn them on any surface but with liquids you always have to have a container of sorts to hand

I'm not impressed with them at all. I tried to heat a pint of water on an army stove, I put the gel block in an old tobacco tin (good move as it spreads everywhere), it lasted 10 minutes and did not boil the water.

@verysurvival2 жыл бұрын
ofcourse 1 tablet will boill water, it depends on how much water you have and how warm it is

Boiling is boiling. Had you have done a rolling boil point test then the diffences would likely have much more apparent. @@verysurvival
