This question isn't related to this video, but I was curious about something in Fire Emblem 5. What did you think when August was telling Leif about Seliph and August said that people were working to turn Seliph into the hero he has become? I'm asking because Seliph being setup to succeed by certain powerful people was one of your critiques of generation 2's story. Obviously, I'm not trying to say that them acknowledging a weakness in the prior game's story therefore fixes that weakness. I merely want to know if you got some sort of satisfaction, even very slight satisfaction, in picking out a story flaw that even the developers decided to address. Though of course them mentioning it doesn't mean they admit it was a flaw, but whatever, this question is getting too complicated now. :P
@mcihay2464 жыл бұрын
If one were to look at Seliph's perspective in FE4, it's best that he doesn't know that he was to inevitably succeed. Plus, having Lewyn's machinations revealed in Thracia 776 instead of FE4 is a good means to show that he shows a facade whilst he's with Seliph. I can relate it to FE4 being like Eliwood Mode, whereas FE5 is like Hector Mode.

My thoughts on Fe 7: I would actually argue it’s the best game to start out with. For the reason being it’s simply to understand and there’s no skills or anything too complex. Hector hard mode gives a pretty good challenge without it being cheap. While yes you can absolutely cheese this game with Marcus, the game doesn’t really expect first time players to do that or any mad LTC strats. As far as plot goes to be honest: It’s definitely not the best and it has it’s glaring problems, but the cast of characters and (mostly) sympathetic villains more than make up for it. However one of my biggest complaints on this game is Lyn just her entire existence just frustrates me to no end. Mostly because she’s not in Fe 6 anything she does or any development she gets just feels wasted and honestly the game would be better off without her and she’s also really boring as a character(her gameplay doesn’t help her case either). Don’t even get my started on the shipping wars. I still must say with all that in mind it’s still a really fun and enjoyable game. Overall I give it 7/10

I'd rather shoot it down to 6/10. While I agree with most of what you say. The deeper you bite into the story the more it crumbles onto itself. This probably my bias because I played through the game over and over in one sitting to 100% the support library. The flaws are really glaring

The EU/PAL version of the game has a very sloppy translation, he's playing that version and not the NA release. And the story ISN'T bad, the community has just been swayed by an UNWATCHABLE analysis/critique video by popular FE KZbinr Mekkah that blatantly RIPS OFF Red Letter Media and makes almost no good points. I like quite a bit of Mekkah's content, but that particular series is abhorrent, nitpicking, BULLSHIT that is also hard to watch and it is sad how much it has affected the opinion of the FE community on the topic of FE7's story, IMO.
@lpfan44912 жыл бұрын
A good chunk of errors actually do originate in the NA-release. Like the downright translationerrors, Nergal being misspelled as Negal(or something like that, don't remember) once, abilities being misspelled, etc. I know because I have seen those errors in FEBuilder and I can't have accidentially opened an EU-rom because that tool doesn't support those. Heck, the EU-release actually corrected some of the errors in the NA-release. Also, what's so wrong about a good amount of points in Mekkah's videos? Sure, the videos ARE kinda bad because of the forced "comedy", but I don't see the bigger issue with putting emphasis on how the story fails to have a logical throughline and contradicts FE6.

With every new video I'm looking forward to the next with more anticipation. Will you enjoy the Tellius games (while shitting on FE10s support system and the "unique and exciting" map objectives of part 4)? What will your gameplay view of FE12 look like? And how much of a shitshow are Awakening and Fates going to be? You still have several FE entries ahead of you but I would like to see a review of the series as a whole at some point discussing the heights and lows of the series from your perspective. :P

Fire Emblem 7 that was the first Fire Emblem game to ever be released into the west, would not have been a successful release on the GBA if it were not for Marth and Roy being characters in Smash Bros Melee. That is perhaps my honest opinion of this game and to me, this was my first Fire Emblem experience as I am sure others who were around my age would also have to agree with if they were Smash Bros Melee fans and first knew of the Fire Emblem series thanks to Marth and Roy from that Smash Bros game. I did my research at the time back then thanks to gaming mags, so I knew all about the difficulty and permanent deaths that gamers would have to expect while playing the older Fire Emblem games especially on emulators. Thankfully for newer gamers to the series, the option to play Casual mode or Classic mode is one I honestly think is a good idea to give newer fans a fresh introduction with Casual mode and give them an option if they are good enough to take the challenge to play their second playthrough to try the Classic mode so they can try to play Fire Emblem the way it was traditionally made.

Basically nothing. It's basically just contrarianism because too many people liked this game for its story for too long so it became sort of hip counterculture a couple of years ago.
@giovannibonfiglio92432 жыл бұрын
I actually got really invested in Lyn’s story, and for it to be ripped away after 10 chapters made me so annoyed - after emotionally investing - that I’ve still never played the game through lol. Eliwood is a bit dull :/

fe7 has a hot mess of a main story, yes, but i still like its writing when it shows side stories like nino and jaffars stuff, and the supports are generally good, every character feels like they have depth even if the depth does not matter
