I played Awakening last year when the pandemic started as my first FE game and loved it. I loved the cast of characters and being able to see them grow, interact with each other, romance and all that it's so much fun to me and makes them feel truly alive. Combat of course was super addicting too. Then I proceed to play Echoes and... just fell in love even more than with Awakening. I'm a huge Phoenix Wright guy so seeing this type of "visual novel" style of exploration in towns with that soothing track playing in the background, just... oof amazing. Then we have this map that we need to explore, dungeons in third person, super likeable cast again, new mechanics very different to Awakening and so much more. Definitely my favorite so far, still need to play Fates to finish the 3DS games and then move on with others.

Don't know if you have yet to play fates or not, but it is notoriously one of the worst games in the franchise, birth right is too easy, revelations is very gimmicky. The story kinda sucks, the characters are less interesting than other FE games. Try something like FE 6 (if you don't mind hard gameplay) or FE7. Soundtracks and characters are killer for the most part

Oh just noticed my 2 year comment and yours and since I finally played Fates (Conquest) last year I'll give my quick thoughts: didn't like it lol. Story was... meh, didn't vibe with most characters (Camilla of course and a few others). But just the story didn't make much sense especially on the Conquest side. So far out of the FE games I've played my favorites are Echoes, Three Houses and Awakening, need to play more of course. Engage maybe someday.@@markthacker9975

@G4min0s I'm guessing they're referring to a video by ImagineBaggins they uploaded a pretty popular video of relaxing FE Awakening music. When Echoes came out, they made a video in the same style for the Echoes OST, but I assume it got copyright struck and taken down because it's been gone for years.
