I can’t go a year without revisiting this game. I have to come back to it time and again, like comfort food or your favourite book. Just the music makes me itch to play again. Possibly one of my favourite ever pieces of art because all of its elements are so gorgeous individually, but collectively they’re even greater.

@@sampenkava9118 I'd say Awakening, Three Houses and SoV o far have the best music pieces. They all work with the same 'stakes' in different moods in the music. I lack the apropriate words to decribe these tones. SoV somehow sounds more.. decisive than the other two. Three houses has a bit more a majestic feel to most boss themes, while Awakening it usually sounds like you're up against the end itself. (well.. kinda what is happening) But i'd say Three houses has the most noteworthy ots. Although that could be just my experiene because i've played this game about 700 hours while the other two have 'only' about 200 hours

My favorite has to be "praise this despair". As far as I know, it's the theme that plays on the map during your last encounter with Berkut and hell men, did I love the fight..... Only because of the music and the atmosphere, but who cares. Twilight of the gods is a very super hyper triple deluxe second. I think that it is the better theme, but I don't feel attached to the track and thus I would rather hear praise this despair than twilight of the gods.

ngl, heritors of arcadia is the only one im terribly fond of. I dunno, this game just didnt hit me right. some people say im an "elitist" because i think the GBA games are the best of the series, but whatever. i can live with that. I grew up playing the GBA fire emblem, so thats probably why im biased towards them, although, FE6&7 have (imo) the best stories, and are the most in-depth games. without the weapon triangle, the SoV felt like the only stats that mattered were atk, def, and spd. and that you just had to be stronger than your enemy, pure and simple. I missed the different builds in FE7, where you could get Nino to the point where she had 80-90 avoid, and couldn't be hit. I missed the feeling of strategy. It felt like a game of... elite troops beating up infantryman, rather than an epic battle between two armies. The supports felt kind of lackluster, and the characters felt kind of flat as well. very obvious characteristics and personalities, etc. and honestly, all of the games after say... Radiant Dawn? all kind of felt that way. awakening, fates, etc. Music has always been one of my biggest issues. I love the music from FE6,7,&8. FE7: Campaign of Fire? Amazing Black Fang? Amazing Cog of Destiny? One of my favorites Nergal's Wrath? Awesome Distant Travels? Another favorite Inescapable Fate? Fantastic Dragon's Gate II? Wonderfully dark Softly With Grace? Favorite Everything into the Dark? Amazing Ships and Homes? Great tavern music Together We Ride? Iconic, and my personal favorite version Requiem? Fantastic What Comes from Darkness? Aptly named Calamity Bringer? Favorite The Grieving Heart? Perfect Reminiscence? Wonderful Results? Great Avoided Fate? Tone-setter Legend of the Dragon God? Amazing FE6: Frontier? Great Polar Region? Pretty great Shadow Approaches? Fantastic The Last Dragon? Tense and epic In the Name of Bern? Fantastic Shaman in the Dark? Epic Unseen Enemy? Wonderful Invisible Thread? Amazing Dark Priestess? Dark and mysterious Suspicious? Epic Dignity? Dignified Shocking Truth I&II? Great The Beginning? Amazing FE8: (dont have access to the ost rn, so I might have to add more later) Rise Above? Pretty good Determination? Great Truth Despair and Hope? Fantastic Land of Promise? One of the best The Prince's Despair? Another great one Return of the Demon King? Excellent Lyon? Amazing Lost Heart? Also amazing Lyon Organ Arrangement? Wonderful Solve the Riddle? Fantastic There's just so many good ones. (these are my absolute favorites) The music in the newer games feels lackluster, and honestly, the games feel too light-hearted. FE7 had a pretty intense plot (even without the tangled web of spoilers) with Eliwood's father's death, Uther's death, Lyn's parents' deaths. Ninians death. Leila's death. A lot of important/loved (at least by the characters) characters die, and all of their deaths advance the plot or subplot. But the new games just dont have that. Not to mention that compared to contemporary games, FE games have kinda poor graphics. Its 2019, we have 4k graphics now. I like the GBA graphics, because to me they're nostalgic, and were never ment to be good. Radiant Dawn's graphics and animations were really good. But the 3ds graphics sucked. They look like nintendo half-heartedly tried to update the graphics, but couldnt be bother to put much money and effort into it. I can count the pixels on my 3ds SoV copy (btw, the dlc classes in SoV all have identical models, so it doesnt matter which characters you promote, they all end up looking identical. Yay) Boy, that was quite a rant. Whoops.
@Ideataster5 жыл бұрын
Wait what? Shadows having flat characters compared to GBA? Even just on dialogue alone, you get far more out of SoV, as well as actually getting to know them all beyond being stat/class cards like in the GBA games. (Where it's basically JUST the heroes that get the spotlight anyway) And you describing this game as light-hearted compared to GBA makes me question if you even played SoV to begin with. :/ GBA has it's nice touches, but as far as quality and how it meshes with the game, SoV's soundtrack is superb. SoV may have been less in the gameplay, but it made up for it in being a great story telling experience.
@avaliantsoul54085 жыл бұрын
@@Ideataster SoV has little in the way of character development. Alm never stops being a hard-headed warrior, and Celica never stops being a b*tchy "holier-than-thou" princess. None of the characters really evolve. they just stay the same. Faye never grows out of her obsession with Alm, Gray continues to flirt with every lady. Boey never overcomes his fear of Terrors. None of the characters change in any meaningful way. In FE7, Eliwood starts out hopeful, seeking his father, but as he gets entangled in the web of the Black Fang, and his father dies in his arms, he rises above and chooses to carry on. Friendship is an important theme in FE7, with all 3 lords supporting each other in meaningful ways. Supports are also much more in-depth and unveil character relations, and more about the characters involved. you learn that Dart is Rebecca's missing brother and that Canas is Nino's uncle. You get Jaffar's backstory and learn that Ninian and Nils are the children of Nergal. You learn from Canas's support (with Pent I think) of how in order for dark magic to grant the user strength, the wielder must sacrifice their soul. Which explains Nergal, and his whole arc. It explains why Ninian and Nils responded to his call through the Dragon's Gate. honestly, in SoV, the few "dark" things that happen are: Alm kills his own father Jedah sacrificed 2 of his 3 daughters to Duma As for the music, i didnt find any of it very tense, or brooding. many of the tracks play too much (like in the dungeons) and end up just being annoying. the music just wasnt/isnt as memorable for me Other than that, I can't remember much else that really stuck out to me. Oh, and BTW, I have about 400 hours played in SoV, and have collected every single weapon in the game, including Astra, Luna, and Sol. I've completed the game on both difficulties multiple times (i think 5 total?)
@zekdom4 жыл бұрын
The music point is subjective. Most of SoV’s soundtrack is intense and dynamic, at least to me. As for the support point, I... agree. Supports in the GBA games reveal certain details, especially FE7. But to say there’s better character development and then mention Eliwood - one of the most bland characters who stays the same, upright, virtuous guy throughout the game - is a bit silly. Matthew, Jaffar, and Barte are better examples. Dare I say, even Lyn was made more interesting through the Wallace support. But yeah, I would say one of the GBA’s strongpoints is support conversations. That said, I don’t think the supports in SoV are bad. They may not have revealed story details like the GBA games, but they fleshed out the characters and showed us what they’re all about with such energy and passion that I didn’t even notice the lack of development. The voice actors did a great job. The remake threw a dynamic spin on the music, regardless if we like it or not. Overall, the Fire was strong in this Fire Emblem, that’s why I think many fans love SoV.
