Damn, seeing Fernand go from the friendly, dedicated bro to the bitter, uncompromising traitor in the main story hurts. How could you accuse such a cool dude of withholding food from commoners and then kill his family? He was basically as valorous as Clive, and he just got treated like crap. It's no excuse for being a massive douche but damn it's sad when you see how far a character has fallen as the world beats them down.

rOvertJustice There's more to why he became like that. It's in the last map of the Rise of the Deliverance pack.
@DevilHunter19947 жыл бұрын
Linkmstr Yeah I felt like that final map was a really nice touch. Alm may have been the final straw, but I like that he wasn't the only reason for Fernand's betrayal. Clive had already compromised his principals and that understandably left Fernand feeling uneasy. It's good to know that his betrayal wasn't entirely based on his prejudices and that he had justifiable reasons for doubting the deliverance and what they stood for.
@Elendieldunadan7 жыл бұрын
DevilHunter1994 Exactly! I think there's also the fact that Fernand may have felt like he was slowly getting replaced by Lukas as an advisor. Their opinions on matters were often at odds with each other, and as time passed Clive listened to Lukas more and more and to Fernand less and less. The Deliverance was changing in a manner that made Fernand feel like he was being pushed away, so he finally left.

Breath of the Wild Link's like Gray cuz of fallin' in love with an aristocrat (with Zelda bein' the girl who loved him) while he was a commoner (a peasant in the Royal Guard who didn't belong in the aristocracy). Clair changed her mind about Gray, Zelda changed her mind about Link, the "Average Joe" who trained ta be a knight while he was a commoner (when he killed the Yiga assassin ta rescue Zelda, which made her drop the selfish attitude). He was knighted cuz King Rhoam found out that he saved the people by destroyin' the Guardian that went on a rampage (by usin' a pot lid ta reflect its beam back at it). His heroic an' noble act got 'im knighted as a reward fer all the lives he saved. He was the commoner--the peasant--who became the youngest knight in Hyrule's history before the kingdom was annihilated by Calamity Ganon. Breath of the Wild Link an' Gray ended up bein' commoners who fell in love with aristocrats. In the artworks made by fans, Link was seen as a commoner (in a family of commoners who served as the Royal Guard cuz they served the monarchy) who knew Zelda since childhood (introduced to each other by their dads when they was lil' kids), even before the adolescence. As Link regained his most important memories, he rediscovered his past. Zelda said she was still there...in Hyrule Castle. He was determined ta help her out again (like 100 years ago). He destroyed the Blight Ganon in self-defense ta set his friends free, even when they was spirits. This also brought closure to their nations. He also cleared all the trials fer all 120 shrines to earn his own heroic green outfit, the Hero of the Wild set. He got stronger again, up to the where he was able ta survive Fi's test (ta be worthy of the Master Sword again). A hundred years ago, he recklessly used the Master Sword ta destroy the Guardians. He used too much of its power. When he was severely injured by their beams, the sword got nicked, cracked, an' rusted cuz he was fatally wounded. That's one reason why Fi limits the Master Sword's uses by limitin' how much energy she's gonna use. When Link let Zelda cry in his arms (while he had the genuine remorse fer all those friends he couldn't save), he gave her the compassion she needed to unlock Hylia's Power (makin' her more selfless compared ta when she was jealous his progress). That made her even MORE concerned about his safety. Love, compassion, kindness, selflessness, AND a desire ta protect Link caused Zelda ta finally unlock her power (which also saved the Hylians who escaped ta Fort Hateno, also defendin' one of the few remanin' Hylian settlements) cuz these virtues was seen by Hylia as very important (she even fell in love with the first Link, the man who also had these strengths). Link collapsed as Zelda disabled all the Guardians with the power that was dormant fer all those years. He looked in her eyes, an' then, he became unconscious. Zelda cried cuz she thought he died (she was scared of losin' him the way she lost the kingdom). Then with a chime, Fi told her ta have Link taken to the Shrine of Resurrection, indirectly savin' her master's life. She also guided her to the Korok Forest where the Deku Tree was. Zelda guessed that the Slumber of Restoration was gonna erase all of Link's memories. Turns out, she was right. She talked to the tree, put the rusted Master Sword in the pedestal, an' got back to the castle ta keep Calamity Ganon in the castle. The stasis kept both kids young fer, like, 100 years. That's why they didn't age at all. If they aged naturally, they'd be too old ta stop Calamity Ganon AND Ganondorf. After 100 years the Sheikah Towers an' the Shrines could finally be activated cuz the time before the disaster wasn't the right time. Why the hell couldn't they be activated earlier in the memories? Cuz it wasn't the right time. When 100 years passed, he was finally able ta have the Hero of the Wild set. The green Cap, green Tunic (with the brown shirt), an' brown Trousers of the Wild make the Hero of the Wild set, which looks SO cool. Pullin' the Master Sword out with this green outfit on feels so right. After waitin' fer 100 years, they finally beat Calamity Ganon. They met again when the Dark Beast was sealed away by Hylia's power (which declined over 100 years) AND the Triforce's power. This time, she saw Link wearin' the Hero of the Wild set (the canonical green outfit). The French version of Kass's ballad calls Link the "Captain of the Princess's Guard", don't it? It also says that Link an' Zelda is gonna be rulin' over a freed Hyrule (with a golden age of peace an' prosperity). Maybe that sentence means that Zelda's gonna rule as the new queen, with Link--the commoner--as her husband an' king (or as her prince consort cuz he was born as a commoner, not a noble).

Remember, Desaix seemed to be putting a hefty tax on the noble families (as described in the Clive and Fernand one), which means his father was probably - and regretfully at this - handing over food to keep Desaix's men from pillaging the village they oversaw. @Ryodraco7 жыл бұрын
Is he complexed? I didn't get that impression, unless you mean when he noted it was up to him to improve if he fell too far behind. Most of what he says about her abilities is how much he loves those things about her. I would have agreed about Mathilda retiring except that another line in that ending indicates she only retired "officially". That is its noted she was rarely seen in Clive's public appearances, leading to the text saying its believed she was still supporting Clive's knight work behind the scenes. I like to imagine she would basically shadow him on missions as a secret weapon if he ever got in over his head. Given he dies fighting pirates if Mathilda dies but survives if he doesn't one may assume she was there to help him with the pirates. She didn't ever care much for fame or social events, so such a life would really suit her. Secret Service-style bodyguard Mathilda anyone?

It's interesting to see how different some of the Deliverance members were in the past. Fernand's the most obvious case, but you can also see how much Clair's grown up since joining the Knights of Zofia, as she points out in her A support with Mathilda.

This concept would've carried over into three houses *so easily* with Sothis' time shenanigans and all, as like visions or dreams of the past, akin to the one Byleth has at the beginning of the game, but they just didn't carry it over. I want memory prisms of Byleth being the Ashen Demon to establish his prior experience, Jeralt and Alois sharing a drink so we can learn more of their old relationship, Ashe getting caught stealing from Lord Lonato so that we can see more of their relationship, and so on

I love the concept of memory prisms, they add a lot of backstory without interfering the main storyline. It's something that could've saved Fates and Awakening, and I think it's something that every FE game should have, though it should have different twists to each game. I kind of wish there were more for characters on Celica's path, as most of these prisms are more for characters on Alm's path such as Clive and Fernand. There could've been one featuring Boey and Mae, and it would be a scene where they were training. Or maybe one featuring Sonya and her sisters, because that could've added more to her character. Overall, I loved how Echoes handled backstory, and I hope that 3H does the same (I haven't played it yet, I'm saving up for a switch.)
@thatonepersonnoonecaresabo31635 жыл бұрын
Then on that front with 3H having stuff like menory prisms, I'll have to be sorry to disappoint you, but they aren't in the game and there are no signs of them ever getting in via DLC. Though the game has more supports and a library for lore. Take it as you will.

Man I love the representation of the gods in this. They’re both good people but are too extreme with their world view.. Mila wants to bring eternal happiness to her people by giving them everything they need, but by doing this she ends up leading to a nation unprepared for anything and with rulers who overindulge with the gift Mila gave them. On the other hand Duma gave his people nothing but martial skills. Everything they’ve achieved was done through war and hardship. It is true that you are at your happiest after going through hardship, but in a world surrounded by hardship there will be those who never see the joy of life. Such a great game with incredible writing.

I know that Mila is lovely and all, but honestly, Duma did his job better at shaping and helping mankind. Even after he degenerated, with the exception of the Duma faithful, his people were ready to take over for themselves, and without the interference of Mila sealing Falchion, both he and her would have been slayed and Rigel would have adapted, as well as Zofia under the new leadership of Rudolf. He was right to think that Mila's teachings would leave the people too soft to survive on their own. Celica and almost everyone else who follows her teachings wholeheartedly believes that without Mila's blessings, they're all going to starve to death.

Sure its been years since this game and even this video came out, but I realized something about Walhart from this. He isn't like Alm at all. Sure, they both believe in personal stregnth and defying destiny but their methods are completely different. DESAIX is exactly like Walhart, like Walhart he acknowledges the gods yet talks about how little he cares for them and how his own personal will is greater than any god's power. Walhart used extreme violence and cynicism to try and unite humanity, while Desaix used extreme force and cynicism to take over Zofia and try to build his own kingdom. They both had similar goals, and while Walhart acts like he is only a conduit for strength and humanity he is just as selfish and greedy as Desaix. Even when joining Chrom, he only ever did it because he wanted to walk the path of conquest and intended to use his own strength to achieve his goals regardless. Essentially, Walhart dreams of being Alm. He dreams of killing gods and becoming a legendary hero to unite his world, but in the end he just becomes a Desaix. A manipulative (and manipulated) tertiary villain who just serves as a challenge to the actual hero on their way to kill gods and unite their world. As bright as Desaix was, not even he could see the actual battle going on around him. Walhart knew what was going on, but his lack of strategy and willingness to just push through his challenges left him as a tool of the grimeal. I don't know, I just think that intentionally or not - echoes has further developed Awakening's lackluster story.

My thoughts: 1. When I first saw Duma as a human, I thought "DAMN. FUCKIN BEEFY" then I heard his voice and thought "What a fuckin nerd." 2. Sorry Nyna, looks like Camus fell for Tatiana. Don't take it too Siriusly though. 3. AWWHH SMOL CONRAD. 4. Fernand was such a great character, I wish things were different so he would be on our side. 5. Rinea and Berkut honestly break my heart. I hated Berkut at first, but now I can't help it but be sad for the two. I wish there was a game to change their story and have them find true happiness, he didn't deserve this ending. 6. Of course Jesse would save Silque. He was smooth till his dumbass gets captured. 7. How did Mycen and Rudolf know each other in the first place? 8. Sucks to suck Celica. 9. Great, now there's gonna be multiple ForsythxPython. 10. Fuck Desaix and his fatass. 11.CLAIR IS A SAVAGE.

One minor thing I have. Given the geography of the world, since Camus was defeated in Grust, if he washed up in Rigel, his comatose body would’ve been washed through the waves until he reached the eastern shores of Rigel, which, in proximity to Grust, was northwest. The only way I could see this making sense is if his body ended up on a boat, he was already amnesiac, crew sailed around Rigel, shipwrecked, and he ended up in the beach where Tatiana found him.
