Rules/restrictions:
1) Hammerne must be included in Renault's inventory, meaning that he can only bring along 4 other items with him. No carriers allowed.
2) Renault must be the one doing the repairs. This will ensure that he doesn't get a "free turn advantage" while someone else is doing the repairs.
3) Same with trading, Renault must be the only one using the trade function, in order to repair and to retrieve Aureola. This means that he cannot initiate attack for a turn while repairing the tome.
4) I will only repair the tome when it has 4/20 uses left, because I am already high on drugs to even attempt this character journey.

Renault is one mysterious man, he just appeared, and then vanished without a trace. One might argue that it is more difficult to get Renault's supports than recruiting Karla, due to the limited amount of maps/chapters that he is able to participate in. Hence B is the highest support level he could get in Nergal's map, you will have to sacrifice your tactics score because of this.
With only 12 base Mag as a level 16 Bishop, it is difficult for Renault to even do damage to any of the mid-bosses in the final chapter. Not only that, in Ch32, he can't damage Limstella at all, and of course, in Ch32x, he is simply useless when inside Kishuna's sealing/silence range. Yet, the mystery behind him is still an interesting concept to fill in some of the missing stories in Wallace's and Lucius' past, no reason to avoid using him.
Regarding Jerme, if Renault defeat him by retaliation, Darin will target Renault instead (berserked Darin moves after Jerme).

Character Journey Tier List (in terms of difficulty)
Ranking rules:
1) HHM only, excludes Merlinus, Nils/Ninian, and unpromoted characters.
2) Characters' max potential are calculated with best level ups & statboosters.
E.g. Renault's Mag: Base 12 (Lv16) + 4 (Level ups) + 0 Energy Rings (HHM) = 16 Mag.
3) Character must be the only one doing damage to enemies, includes dragon battle.
4) Most of the characters are ranked by classes (except some like Renault or Isadora), and the first name mentioned being the more useful character, reasons will be stated compared to above character of the same class. Lords are ranked a tier above their similar classes due to dragon slaying weapons.
5) Mt is the most important factor here (doubling potentials too), due to cutting down on the number of turns required to deal with enemies. Hence Axes are way better than swords here, if user is not being weighted down.
Cheat Tier:
1. Athos (S rank in all magic, Luna)
High Tier: Doing this without much planning, might not even need supports.
2. Canas (Luna)
3. Hector (30Str/Def, Armads)
4. Dart (Fire affinity, +15% crit)
5. Hawkeye (Pre-promote lower potential, locked B supports)
6. Lyn (A combined swordmaster/sniper with higher caps, AND Sol Katti)
Mid Tier: While being powerful, they are still limited by some factors like slightly lower caps/support bonuses. For low Con characters, avoids are slightly more important than offenses here, due to limited elixirs in the inventory.

@@ShadowdaHedgie11 In FE7, magic sword damage is calculated as if the wielder has a MAG stat of 1/2 their STR. So while 12 MAG is indeed impressive for a physical unit, it could simply be that Renault used to be a Hero with capped STR. Since he OHKO's Bartre in their support convo, after years of not training physically and without even trying, that seems about right.

Sauce Updating the list won't be accurate as well, since not many will bother watching every single character journey in order based on upload dates. They will most likely just watch for their favourite characters. There are things like the search bar or channel playlists for a specific reason. :3

Really, the only thing that those few levels wouldve changed is a run like this. He doesnt need to grow to be good, he already has A staves and pretty solid bases. Hes the perfect staffbot. His lowish mag is irrelevant as you can buy recover staves, and eben with mend he heals plenty, and his warp range is entirely sufficient for 32x and final thanks to how small they are.

Jeremiah peters His really high skill actually makes it so he will end up as the most reliable light magic user to crit the enemies. Give Renault Luce and you’ve basically given him the Wo Dao of light tomes. Now yes you have to train him up to S Tomes, but give him Shine and Purge during the Limstella chapter and you can do it and still get Hector’s gaiden chapter.

I'm pretty sure the Dragon counts as a separate map, but you're right about him technically being able to B support before the Final. However the time it takes to get a C support in his join chapter make it unlikely that you'll make the requirement for the Gaiden, on top of the fact that you'd have to train him to max on either a chapter with a turn limit OR a magic seal. EDIT: Now that I look at it, it's literally objectively impossible for him to get B Support before the final because he needs a minimum of 40 turns for any C support and the turn limit is 20, I thought maybe you could pull some super duper god-tier warp rng manip shenanigans or something to recruit him early on in the map but I forgot that GBA supports still take a billion years lol

thesiaoz Oh, all right. Btw, at 21:40, is it Serra or Lucius? I mean, it gotta be a magic user since they usually have the best Res. The only magic users that are unpromoted are Erk, Serra, Lucius, Canas and Nino. However, Anima Magic is weak against Dark Magic, so it should be Serra(since she is neutral and Clerics usually get amazing Res and poor Mag), Lucius (because ToM Advantage) or Canas (the least probable but still a possibility). So, my guess is between Serra and Lucius. EDIT: I just remembered Nosferatu! Perhaps Canas is a possibility after all! Let me go to the wiki real quick. EDIT2:Ok, Nergal has 30 Mag and Ereshkigal has 20 Mt. That adds up to 50 Dmg. The max Res any of the three classes previously mentioned is 20, plus Barrier/Pure Water, that goes up to 27, leaving Nergal dealing only 23 Dmg. That's still a lot. 23×3=69. The max HP is... Wait a second! Ereshkigal can't even crit! Why even does Nergal have a crit animation?

Balloon Boy Strangely enough, it's not the magic users. Someone answered it not too long ago. You can try find it in the comment section. :P Nergal's highest crit rate is a mere 15, that is when my character has 0 luck and without having a tactician. In order for him to perform a critical, I must actually play the game with ALOT of disadvantages, like having no luck growths, and without the little bonuses from the tactician, supports, etc. Two criticals in a row is just pure RNG abuse.

thesiaoz Love the irony of what you said for the first caption, yes, it is a very long journey, yet he only appears for 2 chapters (3 if the player does chapter 30x/32x as well). But Iv'e always wondered something about the man, he said he was a mercenary when he was younger, and that when you first meet him he's a bishop. Beating Lyn's tale also tells us that Lucius traveled with him on a journey. What exactly happened on that journey that caused Renault to retire, and how did he end up on the Dread Isle? Edit: RNG sure is helping you out a bit this time, the first few hits from Aureola being crits saved your usages.

Corey Mattson I will try to summarize his past (spoilers included?): Renault was a mecenary in the past, his bravery inspired many back then (Wallace Support). When Kishuna, Renault's best friend, died, he tried to revive him by all means possible. Nergal and Renault met. Nergal manipulated Renault by asking him to collect quintessence from living beings (Canas' Support). One of the people killed by Renault is Lucius' father, hence the reason why Lucius is in the orphanage (Lucius Support). When he realised that the morph isn't his fallen friend, knowing that the dead cannot be revived, he decided to mourn for Kishuna, where he cast down his weapons and knelt for the first time, and became a Bishop (Isadora Support).

Hearing that battle dialogue from Nergal and Renault made me wonder about what he meant by the person, but I never knew that it was Kishuna the entire time. But the fact that he laid down his weapons to become a bishop after being a mercenary, makes me wonder how a mercenary was even able to promote to one. It's so bizarre on how Elibe has so many mysteries and murdered victims, mostly murder. But I gotta feel so sorry for Lucius, yet don't understand why he traveled with Renault when he realized he killed his father in the process of trying to revive Kishuna. No need for Spoliers, I play Blazing Sword a lot anyways so I know a lot about the storylines.

Corey Mattson Kishuna being Renault's dead friend is a popular fan theory but there is not enough evidence to confidently say either way. It depends largely on how you interpret the wording of each piece of relevant dialogue and the overall timeline for Nergal's morph experimentation being unclear. There's a fairly in-depth discussion on Blazing Sword's lparchive page written by Melth and other forums like Serenes Forest have discussed it in the past if you're interested to see more thoughts.

That all makes a fair amount of sense, but I'm still stumped over the fact that he managed to change to a bishop when he was a mercenary. Let's take some logic into understanding this. 1. Only Monks and Priest's can promote into a bishop, while Mercenaries in this game can only become a Hero class. 2. If he were to become a bishop, he must have known how to harness the power of light magic just like how Lucius is able to harness it. 3. Probably the dumbest reason but, pretty sure Renault just says "Screw logic." and just becomes whatever he wants to be.

Judging from how the characters stack up, here's a list of which units are the best and worst in FE7. Although this is entirely based on just doing the last chapter on their own. And I won't include the Lords and Athos, because unique classes. Same with Canas, because while it's not a unique class, he is the only dark magic user in the game aside from Athos, and Luna is broken. Here we go! 1. Berserker 2. Warrior 3. General 4. Nomadic Trooper 5. Hero 6. Wyvern Lord 7. Bishop 8. Sage 9. Valkyrie 10. Falcoknight 11. Paladin 12. Sniper 13. Swordmaster 14. Assassin And then we just have the outliers, Isadora and Renault.

Breadstics It's possible, but very unlikely. 1. You must not include the tactician for your run, so you won't get any tactician points for additional critical avoids. 2. The character you choose to fight the both of them must not have any supports, as it might boost their critical avoids. 3. The same character must not get any luck stat from level ups either, as every point of luck boost your critical avoid by 1. Even with all these stuff absent, Nergal's critical rate can never exceed 15% and the dragon with 19%.

If curious, for the dragon smoke and fire come out of his teeth before he does his normal attack, and for Nergal after making that pillar of darkness he turns to the side and reaches up in the air and this dark magic disk thing spins around before finishing like normal.

And getting 20 crits out of a 25 durability sword at that. I honestly.... Saying we use legault, and use the emblem blade to make sure there's enough durability to get through all the morphs, and get a crit on the first attack on nergal, leaving us with 24 durability on the regal blade and 12 elixirs. 66%'s true hit is ~77.22%. Then again that doesn't matter because you only need 9 elixirs to survive 10 hits. NVM, you can use a killing edge and brave sword or something. Assuming 2 avoids, this allows for all 24 durability. This is important because it allows for 6 hits to no be crits. Now then..... 0.08^18 = roughly 1 in 2 times TEN TO THE POWER OF TWENTY. So yeah, it's possible. With extreme RNG manipulation to allow for 9-10 consecutive turns of 0.64% (8% squared) chances. -Leila journey when?-

Mekachi Shika You forgot one thing though.. If Jaffar or Legault get berserked by the druid, they will waste the Regal Blade uses (due to highest might, unless brave sword) on the magic users even before getting to Negal, making this even harder.

Quick question, why is Matthew Low tier, but Legault and Jaffar are trash tier, is it just the affinity? The extra point of attack Matthew gets from that?

Mr. Smasher Matthew does a maximum of 5 damage against the dragon. Jaffar/Legault does 2 damage with the same critical rate compared to Matthew, making Matthew "stronger" than the both of them by 2.5 times. Regal Blade only has 20 uses. To defeat the dragon, Matthew only need a minimum of 2 criticals and 18 normal attacks. While Jaffar/Legault requires ALL attacks to be criticals.

Being a second pent-tier staffbot is pretty great. He might have slightly worse range, but the rest of the maps are pretty small and its usually enough. His biggest issue is his late join time, but at least he does something without tons of wasted unlike units such as rebecca or lyn.
