@@shizachan8421 I think a BIG part of the reason is that Rodrigue thought Dimitri’s life was inherently more valuable than both Glenn’s and Felix’s. Both Fraldarius boys were raised to be meat shields for royalty. And I’m sure it is hurtful to know that your own dad thinks your life is expendable and raises you to think your purpose in life is to die for your friend and would even glorify your death. Even in their A support, Felix is pretty harsh, telling him he’s not special. Sounds like he had been bottling that up for years.

Because yeah, Rodrigue is valueing Dimitris life more than both Glenns and felix' because the entire system is set up for Dimitri not being allowed to fail and being shielded from all consequences. Dimitris entire arc is a confirmation that Edelgard was right, but then he gets okay after Rodrigue sacrifices himself because of pre-marital handtouchies and Felix is just okay with his entire family wiped out for the sake of this guy he has intense feelings of lovehate for. Azure Moons popularity and it being credited as some greatly written masterwork convinced me that you can basically just write one long edgy pity party for a cool and sexy looking bishonen, call it character driven and people will eat it uncritically. Like, a big portion of the first half of the game sets up how toxic the church, crests and faerghus chivalric culture are and its touched in favor of Dimitri inventing white moderate centrism.

@@BlackRose88-04 AG is kind of the route with the worst implications because we basically have Crimson Flower Dimitri with a Rhea who never undergoes any character development left in charge of all of Fodlan, with the Empire probably being soon to be fully wiped out and depopulated considering how Dimitri still has his boar side in this route which he never resolves and the only sane man left on the continent being Claude, who has not the manpower to stop them.

The split idea makes sense. The game has a (useless) option to go to the Kingdom or defeat Edelgard first. Annette wanted to go to the Kingdom first, but Dimitri went straight for Edelgard which kinda got Felix's dad killed. I can see why both of them would leave. Also, I'm pretty sure Annette isn't with Dimitri's army in the Golden Deers route during the second 3-way fight. I'm not sure about Felix though.

So, the conclusion is that these defections would be caused by two potential reasons: Choosing to continue to Enbarr leading Felix and Annette to leave in disgust, or failing to complete paralogues leading them to join Cornelia's Regime to either protect their family (Annette) or out of sheer grief (Felix). Personally, the paralogue theory sounds better, as failing those missions would lead to the Dominics being under threat of death for supporting the Royalists, or Felix refusing to accept Rodrigue's willingness to give his life for Dimitri.

If completed, he reminisces about the fight he had with Rodrigue after Glenn's death as he realizes what his father meant about "dying like a true knight", which provides Felix with a little more appreciation for chivalrous virtues and his legacy as a Fraldarius. However, if not all conditions were met, Felix refuses to accept the idea of dying for someone else and honoring the dead, pushing him to fight against Dimitri, who Felix sees as the embodiment of everything wrong with Faerghus' nobility, in an act that ironically mirrors the prince's own obsession with avenging the victims of Duscur.

My theory was having either of them "die" pre time skip on classic mode (however this was deconfirmed). Some units that die pre time skip are stated to be alive but dont make it to the reunion post time skip. They just stay in their kingdom

But Why Tho I think they mean they may leave on CF if their support level with Edelgard is not high enough. I mean, Edelgard put house arrest on Ferdinand’s dad and stripped them of their titles and power (rightfully so, to be honest). Ferdinand could have been pissed off with Edelgard if he hadn’t bonded with her and didn’t understand her motives. Petra might see this as an opportunity to change her country’s vassalage status. Geez, it makes more sense for Petra to leave the empire than fight for the empire even in real life.

I think I get it! You know how on part one students can't die? They just retreat. When I played silver snow I ran out of divine pulses and I just let Ferdinand, Petra and hubert "retreat". They never appeared on cutscenes or anything again. Once I got to part two, Edelgard said something interesting, among the lines of: "Before you answer, know that some of our classmates have decided to side with the empire". I checked and she doesn't say that on normal circunstances. But even if she said that, Ferdinand and Petra never showed up. I think the idea was to make the students you didn't save on the first part betray you, but it was left unused for some reason or another.

My guess is that this had to do with their paralogues. Annette talks about staying with her uncle. In her paralogue, you fight her uncle to keep him away from Annette. As for Felix, this is a stretch, but maybe he becomes more attached to Rodrigue. After his paralogue, Felix feels scorn for his father for not caring about those alive. Had you not done that, he probably stayed in Fargeus to defend their territory.

Jay Vi There is also the theory about that point where you “decide” to either go for the Empire or the Kingdom before the battle of Gronder. Said theory states that if you choose Enbarr, these two leave, return to Farghus. Then either A. Things play out as normal except without Felix and Annette. Or B: Something different happens to Dimitri where he probably never gets over his issues due to his line against Felix still sounding like his “feral” dialogue from before Gronder. So maybe there was an idea for Dimitri to have a much more Shakespearean end.

But his attitude towards another person near the end who he also hates suggests that if this was the same Dimitri, he would at least try to tell Felix it doesn’t have to come to a fight to the death. Yet here he just goes with it and lets Felix have his chance. Which I don’t see Dimitri doing at all after his redemption.

Though I do find the idea of these two leaving your army and having to fight them an interesting idea I feel it would but quite a major blow to loose 2 units 3/4 of the way through the game, especially if you never recruited anyone into your house (which is what I did on my 1st playthroughs of each route). Since the other characters you can loose like Edelgard, Hubert, Flayn and Dedue all leave at the end of part 1, so you can use the start of part 2 to decide who will replace them. Imagine playing Maddening and having a unit as good as Felix defect this far into the game :D.

considering the "Old Faerghus Territories" affiliation they have, it looks like they don't agree with the Faerghus Dukedom but fight anyway for their own reasons, as revealed by their dialogue. Annette fights so the Dukedom doesn't invade the Dominic territory and attack her uncle and mother. Felix fights for revenge against his father, whom he believes was slain because of Dimitri the same way Glenn was slain because of Lambert. seems like a scrapped possibility of them being recruitable once more in Blue Lions (which might explain why they have to not be in your house), or some kind of betrayal for personal reasons. i've read the other comments with interview sources, but i like to think that maybe if you don't have a strong enough support with specific characters, they don't stay because their personal goals are stronger than their faith in Byleth. like the comment about being betrayed to join another house, maybe if you just don't have a strong enough support, they don't stay the same way some characters can't be recruited if you didn't do so in the Academy Phase.

When you have a 40% chance to add damage to your weapon attacks, you trigger that shield a lot. (The activation is based on his Crest, which is 40%, but it applies the effects of Aegis or Pavise, which are Dex% in nature)

I was thinking about this today after watching Nico B's playthrough. So earlier in the path there are 2 choices that say "Head to Fhirdiad the Kingdom Capital" and "Head to Enbarr, the Imperial Capital". Maybe that is where the path split would happen. Like I could imagine a path where Felix gets pissed for our recklessness and Annette leaves us if we didn’t do her and Gilbert’s paralogue. After gronder, Rodrigue would die, but the difference could be the framing of events. We would miss the rain scene basically the scene where we not only reach out our warm hands, but actually stop Dimitri from almost relapsing and heading straight to Enbarr in the middle of the night. That is when we would truly lose Annette and Felix to the Faerghus Dukedom. We would give haste to chasing Dimitri to the Imperial Capital but lose Annette and Felix as a result. The next chapter would start, but it be similar to the Sothis paralogue where Byleth is separated from everybody. This time Dimitri would be far away in the map while Byleth and co need to converge with him, We would then do our Enbarr stuff, Claude would die... since we never take back Fhirdiad and Arundel would be alive, Dimitri would kill Edelgard but of course still be sad about doing so, BUT it wouldn’t end the war. Considering we’d have Arundel and Cornelia still in power in Kingdom and Alliance territory, I could imagine them being the final 2 chapters. Difference is that Cornelia chapter would have enemy Felix and Annette. But I suppose maybe the writers thought Dimitri just went through a lot, so they cut that idea and only left some of the unused dialogue in-game. That one, I feel like they did not run out of time. They just scrapped the idea entirely as their own choice. The game already has enough tragedy as is.

That's actually really interesting, it means that at one point your choices could lead to your characters leaving you and becoming your enemies instead. The situation with Felix actually makes a lot of sense, he had been wary of Dimitry for years at this point, and his father died because of Dimitry. It would have made a lot of sense if he left, and gameplay-wise it could depend on the level of support between him and other characters.

After his brothers death his father said shit that hurt him and stuck with him forever, but even with his disdain that doesnt mean Felix hates Rodrigue. After all Rodrigue is really the only kin he has left at that point with his uncle being slain. It makes sense he'd want to get vengeance, especially if he sees someone who he used to be best friends with so utterly beyond saving. I actually disagree. Even though he doesn’t show it, Felix probably cares about Dimitri more than any of the Blue Lions sans Dedue. I think it’s extremely out of character for him to ever side with the empire, same with Ingrid and maybe Sylvain

I think that Felix is actually mourning his best friend from before the rebellion massacre and still has deep hopes for him to become the good and just king he was going to be, as he was someone Felix looked up to when they were younger. To me, Felix is one of the most loyal persons in Blue Lions, it really doesn't suit him nor Sylvain nor Ingrid to just leave Dimitri down and turn to a foreign leader. And of all of them, Felix is obviously the most affected by feral Dimitri post timeskip, because even though Dedue would execute anything Dimitri undertakes without questioning it in his will to repay for his life, Felix actually cares about his friend making the right choice.

i have a theory of what it was all meant to be but it might be a stretch so my theory is that BL route was going to have some sort of Dimitri meter where certain things you say could affect Dimitri’s actions and the chances of him regaining his sanity, and if you failed to fill said meter then Dimitri just wouldn’t come to his senses and as such the you’d get punished for it, so like notice how Dimitri still sounds like his baggy eyed self when he’s fighting Felix, maybe the events of Rodrigue dying didn’t change Dimitri, causing Felix and Annette to leave the player army and a punishment to you the player for not being nice to Dimitri, this probably sounded way too harsh tho so it got scrapped, sounds a bit complicated and like a stretch but it’s something

Its a shame they had to cut so much stuff. All paths were originally going to have betrayals except Crimson Flower. According to the files Dimtri would murder Rodrigue in front of everyone in a fit of rage. Hence Felix's dialogue in this. Felix is trying to avenge his father. Cornelia was also going to be Annette's mother originally hence why she sides with her.(Although her mother probably has been replaced by a fake and Gilbert knew it.) Something similar was going to happen in Verdant Wind it would result in Claude sacrificing Lorenz entire family in one of his schemes to deal a major blow to the empire. He also did something to Ignatz merchant family as well which had Ignatz join the empire. This resulted in Lorenz and Ignatz joining the empire. Caspar and Linhardt were going to betray Byleth in Silver Snow because of their father's being righthand men of Edelgard. Crimson Flower had at least 3 missions related to fighting those who slither in the dark but theres barely any files leftover however. Interestingly enough there are files implied if you were the professor of the Black Eagles that the flame emperor would show up in the cutscene if your Edelgard support was high enough where they would stop Kronya before they could kill Jeralt resulting in him surviving in both Crimson Flower and Silver Snow paths. Hilda was originally recruitable in Crimson Flower and cut extremely late in development they even wrote all her paired ending slides for Crimson Flower in English and Japanese. Likely only cut because of Edelgard's paralogue.

I feel like this is the result of an unused loyalty mechanic, where if you didn’t reassure Felix’s friendships with his childhood friends or as a Professor didn’t pay him enough attention, Felix defects, and if Annette’s Paralogue isn’t done by a certain date, her uncle forces her to come home and she defects.

The lines seem very vague, so maybe they were only particularly made but still needed voice clips to fill that space.

So I did black eagles first and when I did Blue Lions second, I fell for the bait that each lord was the Flame Emperor since Dimitri wasnt there for flayns rescue or when talking to him after remire. I instantly went insane at the thought of 6 possible paths in this game, but sadly as we know that didnt happen lol.

Imagine how cool would be actually different routes instead of Part 1 basically the same, and then one base route, plus two that are "complete" because the reused gameplay from the base one, and one "incomplete" because couldn't reuse the base route. I sort of believe they had desired some means of alternative pathing for the other routes that only Crimson Flower / Silver Snow achieved. The idea of losing units to a choice is terrible, but would've made the game extremely interesting. Adding even more depth to your units that may, or may not leave based on your decisions.

Felix hates Domeatree because that's his friend. Dimitri doesn't make sense in the opther routes. Just because byleth isn't there doesn't mean that his childhood friends wouldn't try to help him.

I have it reversed actually. Felix hates Dimitri and only works with him because his friends and family think he can be saved. The death of Rodrigue would be the perfect tipping point for him to turn against him. As for Annette I originally disagreed, but then I remembered the paralogue. If Annette chose her uncle over her father then I could see it turning out this way.

For Felix it makes sense, his father died because of Dimitri’s insanity, even if Rodrigue did do it willingly. Felix already hates “the boar” so seeing this would push him to vengeance. As for Annette... just no. There’s no good reason for her to fight her father and her best friend here.

@KEVIN AMAYA-CALDERON Problem with that is that she knows that the best way to protect her mom is by helping Dimitri. I guess she could have left when Dimitri decided to charge against the Empire without regard for Faerghus. But even then, if she saw your army come back her first response wouldn't be to attack you, it would be to ask what's going on and how she could help. That's just the type of person she is. Let's say for the sake of argument that her mom was captured, and she's forced to fight you out of being threatened. She would straight up just tell you that's why she's doing this. Annette isn't exactly known for dancing around the subject, she is very up front and honest, with both friend and foe. In these quotes however she sounds like she honestly thinks you're going to kill her mom and uncle and she needs to protect them from you. Why would she ever believe that? Even if her uncle told her that's what would happen, she wouldn't just believe it without question. I could see her fighting random soldiers of your army on self defense, but the moment her friends and father plead with her to listen to them, she'd at least hear them out.
