This is why I love Dimitri and Byleth's romance. It is just so well built and natural. It fully feels like they are falling in love over the course of their journey together. I mean Dimitri is SO obvious with it, he literally drowns Byleth in compliments pre-TS and post-TS when he's constantly thanking her for saving him and Byleth believes in him to the end that he'll return to his old self and tells him how much he should value himself and how proud she is of him. She stays by his side through everything in during the war to make sure he's okay and you can see how sad she is in the scenes when he doesn't have his sanity. Considering Byleth's difficulty expressing emotions, it's also quite adorable how it seems Dimitri starts to rub off on her. Like when he first invites her to the victory feast, you later on see her in the time skip suggesting to have victory dinners on her own. It's also funny how the two often joke about how bad they both are at humor and teasing each other about it by acting like they're funnier than they are (namely Dimitri at the Goddess Tower and Byleth joking that she taught him humor). Like goodness, they really REALLY sprinkled so much between them and it feels incredibly natural. It is honestly the best Avatar-Lord pairing yet.

Byleth and Dimitri are absolutely perfect together, and I personally think the Blue Lions route was amazing. It was emotional and absolutely heart wrenching. Even as Dimitri started to let his inner demons take over, as soon as I watched the first scene when Byleth wakes up after the time skip and sees Dimitri sitting on the ground...I wanted to help him.

@@wholethedogsout880 it's quieter but it's there and pretty good imo. Edelgard starts Act I extremely closed off from everyone except for (kinda) Hubert. She's stressed, lonely, and is constantly keeping a facade. No friends, just acquaintances and allies. And like Dimitri, she's got a lot of angst about her past (plus concern for the future). Her arc is just her learning to confide in Byleth and develop a real human relationship for the first time. She slowly starts to show vulnerability and gradually breaks down that facade. She does her best to hide it but she's pretty intense in how desperately she needs her relationship with Byleth. (Which also turns into a massive crush ofc) But unlike Dimitri, Edelgard doesn't cover much ground. It's only her relationship with Byleth that changes, not with anyone else. It also doesn't really get the spotlight during the main story. It's really well written, though. Edelgard's supports feel very personal and her relationship is portrayed so well. Better than Dimitri? Who knows. But I do think Edelgard feels more real.

I've got to say Dimitri is one interesting character, he feels very human with his clear flaws. Unlike Claude who doesn't expose his flaws and people really buy into he's a really nice guy even in the start of the game, Claude is very good at wearing a mask and Dimitri has a mask as well everyone does, but his mask shatters at his tipping point. Dimitri is a man who is struggling to have a will to be alive, his route is ultimately about helping your friend or lover out from their past. I will never forget the connection I had with Dimitri, it's one that I unfortunately can't feel with Claude. When a character is written to be flawed, to be human now that is a great approach.

Well, people don't actually buy into the fact that Claude's a nice guy, they pretty much just tolerate him. The Golden Deer will literally just be Claude since you can recruit everyone else. Like Dimitri, Claude has a mask, but unlike Dimitri, Claude keeps a wall between him and the others

@@GaeaRage0798 Exactly. That's honestly the issue with the other three routes. They end up focusing more on 'here's the backstory!' than character building. The Blue Lions almonst exclusively focused on character building and completely dropped all lore...to its benefit. The characters are affected by the story missions unlike the other houses. The characters know each other and have history with one another. Even allies like Rodrigue and Gilbert are completely fleshed out (unlike the other houses). I honestly could not enjoy the other routes as much because it lacked much of that. I didn't have the same connection to the characters as I did in Blue Lions. I will take that over lore in any game.

Even in the without the support cut scenes you can tell they're actually falling in love with each other ;_; yes Im aware of the other popular ships but of all of them I favor this one the most. It was developed so beautifully. Let's all keep in mind that Byleth's influence on Dimitri helped him find peace again. I convinced FByleth x Dimitri was the cannon ship for this story( I think FByleth was designed for the Blue Lions Route) , and its definitely a dead give away when Dorthea already ships it, if she's recruited she'll tell Byleth how if there's an opera based on the last battle their will be a Byleth x Dimitri romance in the story, another hint is history repeating itself, Dimitri and Byleth met the same way Jeralt and Byleth's mother met

I absolutely agree. There are so many romantic undertones from Dimitri’s POV towards Byleth and it’s incredibly sweet. With it feeling so natural even in the main storyline, Dimileth easily became my Fire Emblem OTP along with my top 3 favorite ships. Every time I play as female Byleth in Blue Lions, I will always pair Dimitri and Byleth.

His route kinda reminds me of a loose, somewhat twisted interpretation of the Lion King story tbh. 1) A young prince destined to become king one day with his own set of values and ideals but has lost his father at a young age. 2) Has to live in exile after stuff goes down. 3) Someone from his past (in this case it's Byleth) finds him and helps him [recover/remember] who he [is/was]. 4) The young prince heads back home to reclaim his kingdom. 5) At the finale, the young prince faces off against the royal "family" member that had helped orchestrate the downfall of his kingdom and himself before putting an end to the conflict. These are just some similarities I've noticed, personally I like the BL Route overall.

I feel ya, believe me! I went in fully Expecting Dimitri and his Blue Lions route to be the "Boring Generic one" and that I would most likely prefer Edelgard... ( because her design is appealing and I tend to be a bit shallow!) so in an attempt to "save the best for last", I played Blue Lions first so I could "get it out of the way" only for my expectations to be blown away and utterly demolished! it ended up being my absolute favorite making the others boring by comparison, (Sorry Claude and Rhea! I do love you both, BUT blue lions is the closest to a golden ending for Fodlan's future... at least you two not only survive here but also get happy ends in this path!) or worse flat out unplayable like Edelgard's crimson flower path! I felt sick to my stomach on that route, basically ending up skipping dialogue and only did it once to farm for NG+ renown points!

Everytime I see Dimitri into the future, I can only see a Batman model in him.....and I love it. No matter what he remains my favorite character in Three Houses because of how he establishes himself despite being haunted by his "failures". In my opinion, thats what a hero means to me, one who not only glorifies his accomplishments, but embraces his inner demons to further strengthen their resolve.

F Byleth with Dimitri works perfectly because it works with the story, The same way that the F Robin works with Chrom. Byleth Is at the very forefront of Dimitri's recovery from madness. Every time he needed a helping hand it was her hand that reached out to him. She was the light to his darkness. And the ending fits as well with Dimitri now the king of Fodlan and Byleth the new archbishop their marriage unifies the country's government and it's religion.

That's why it hurts him so much to lose Byleth both in his own storyline and even out of it. To him Byleth never was an "Ashen Demon" because he had seen real demons in his life just like Edelgard. However, unlike Edelgard, Dimitri never wants to use Byleth because he sees them as a person deserving better than anyone.

When I first picked up 3h, I was expecting a school based fire emblem with the same weight as awakening or fates... My first route was the Blue Lions and the support at 40 mins in demolished me. Dimitri is easily my favorite in Three houses and I'm so glad he got a "happier", "less" dark alternate timeline in Three Hopes.
