Seems like commercial buildings lack sufficient fire suppression systems across America.

Only in Cow Hampshire. In Massachusetts, such a building would have had a required sprinkler refit back in 1986.

@@wintercat2605 if we're so backwards how come New Hampshire has legalized Sports gambling before Massachusetts haha... maybe the bigwigs in Massachusetts want people to place their bets with one of the Bulger Brothers Bookies... Massachusetts is losing close to 100 million dollars in tax revenue annually to New Hampshire and Rhode Island because of it... that sounds kind of backwards to me

@@stevengallant6363 You consider sports gambling, a tax on uneducated, alcoholic people who are bad at math, to be anything OTHER than backwards? And why is NH the only state in New England to act like it's 1970 in regards to cannabis? MA is taking all their tax money. So backwards.
@wintercat26052 жыл бұрын
Massachusetts, every other New England state, sprinklers required. MA even had the refit law back in 1986. Cow Hampshire has no such laws, you're just supposed to live free and die. Backwards place.

Another protection besides fire sprinklers is automatic closers on all room entry doors. If the fire had started in one room and the people who were in it had left the door CLOSED it would have slowed the spread of the fire dramatically. If the doors have a fire rating it could even be longer. Even in your own home, keep doors to unused rooms closed and close all doors before everyone leaves for work and school. I had a friend whose family made it a custom to close all doors when they were gone and while they were asleep. After everyone had left one day, a fire started in the kitchen and spread to the rest of the living area. The fire ran out of oxygen and quit burning but it was still hot. If anyone had opened an exterior door at that point, it would have caused a massive backdraft. The fire department wouldn’t let anyone in the house until they knew the temperatures had gone down low enough that it would not reignite if oxygen was introduced. The living area had heavy damage fire damage. Since no water was used to put the fire out, there was no water damage. None of the rooms with the doors closed had even smoke damage. A closed door will not STOP a fire, but it will slow its growth long enough for everyone to get out of the house. This is true for single family homes up to high rise residences.

There are more than 2,300 Forest Fire Wardens, Deputy Wardens and Special Deputy Wardens appointed by the State Forester (Director, Division of Forests and Lands) to serve under the authority of law to protect New Hampshire woodlands from fire. The Warden is the representative of the State Forester who issues fire permits, enforces forest fire laws, and maintains fire fighting tools and equipment at the ready. Wardens also work with Division Forest Rangers to determine fire causes and take necessary steps to prevent recurrence. National Forest Plans Proactive Controlled Burns Near Conway Homes Facing Wildfire Risks New Hampshire Public Radio | By Annie Ropeik Published March 9, 2021 at 3:28 PM EST Managers in the White Mountain National Forest are planning a series of controlled burns aimed at protecting homes in Conway from the growing risk of climate-drive wildfires. “We’ve always done prescribed fire every year - we have a regular burning program,” said James Innes, the district ranger in the project area, in an interview. “But I would say this could potentially be something we haven’t addressed at this scale before.” Prescribed burning would take place across roughly 210 acres in what's known as the wildland urban interface, west of Route 302 in Conway. Officials say they plan burns based on wind conditions to limit smoke exposure for neighbors in the adjacent Birch Hill, Moat and Dandiview areas. WHAT WAS THAT AGAIN? And NO we are not killiforina. I also live in the area and seem to catch these burns from time to time.

It was built in 1971 when sprinklers were not required and when it did become law, buildings that did not have them, were grandfathered in so they did not need to install them. For certain whatever the build now will have sprinklers.
