No worries flint and steel is a thing, by the mineral marcasite throws great sparks as well. Ancient technology…it’s a thing.

I've never had the opportunity to try it (no marcasite here), but I've seen it done also using totally dry punk wood ground into a fine powder in place of the amadou. Good video, I like the idea of caching things.

Several will create sparks, but they might not be the best combination for fire.

I remember as kid looking for rock I can make sparks with,at night in a dark room it's where you can really see some sparks,it's pretty good feeling making fire from stones I've been fascinated with rocks as far as I can remember the best part is my four year old daughter same thing she loves her rocks just like her daddy

You did good showing the percushion methud. But the correct way it was done was putting preshure to the Marcasite with a chunk of Flint an scrape like lighting a modern match, only a lot of preasure and rotate the wrist causing the two stones to scrape together causing sparks. while doing this you are holding the stones all most tuching the tender. By doing this methud your Marcasite lasts much longer and the sparks are much hotter when it contacts the tender. Kinda like how you would grind up some seeds in a mortis using the pistol.
