Carol Harrison is my mum. She's the greatest, strongest and kindest woman I know. So proud to call her my mum! My dad Andrew Crowhurst who I'm also equally proud of is also one of the fire fighters in this documentary. He's the one who held Charlie when Carol was first introduced to the team. Its so cool to have actual footage of when your parents first met. They had a loving 20 year relationship and are still very good friends to this day. Charlie is doing well! he's got two beautiful children of his own now. xxxx

51:30 a very big turning point that got my attention, with the DO Liam Hackett talking about the stress levels in the brigade, fair enough as the others mentioned it is a dreadful job at times and the way to combat it is to joke and laugh about it even if a fatality hence the coping mechanism, I know people even drs who do that today and go out to have some drinks and even a pizza, but this part of the documentary was probably the first time the brigade started to talk about people's mental health in the job and the effect it can have in them, so glad DO Hackett pointed this out and the cameras caught that exchange. Very enlightening that times were changing and some firefighters couldn't just sweep their feelings under the carpet esepcially in a scenario with the Kings Cross disaster.

Looked like the best days in the job. Before political correctness went over the top. Credit to Carol for getting in when she did. I bet the test was the same as it always was then. She should be extremely proud she done it the hard way. No special treatment. Not like today where government quotas and alterations to tests are made. This can often discredit people with people thinking they would never have been good enough otherwise. An some cases this may be true but not for all. I'm of the opinion the best person for the job should be employed. Regardless of race, religion, sex, age, sexual preference, height or weight. It should be a faceless process where you are assigned a number. You are then judged and shortlisted on your results. That is the most fair system that can be. The only people who have a problem with this are those that have an unfair advantage that isn't based on their merits.

Take take take ? Just because she is a firefighter doesn’t mean she forfeits the right to have a child. Who cares if she has no experience as a watch id be repulsed at the behaviour shown by some of them. She needed some of the watch not least the boss to support and guide her not berate her and shoot every drill she does to pieces. She went on to have a long career and no doubt made a better firefighter than you would.

She was on 'light duties', common after long periods of sickness, leave and career breaks etc. You follow the watch and still carry out all the usual duties without riding an appliance and going to shouts. After a bit of time and enough drills the individual can then be signed off as fit to ride again and go back 'on the run'.

Mr Coe... In your first sentence about women in the fire service really didn't do LFB much justice in his conduct... The whole team in conversation were sexist, racist, chauvinistic and dam right horrible.. I know it was okay back then looking back now i think to myself LFB would have an eppy if they heard their staff let alone someone in charge of the brave fire service to be like that... The fire service is a wonderful service does so much for the community and we as a world are always proud of fire service however the odd off the cuff comment will look really bad on the service and brings the service into disrepute.
