Enjoy this full POV of the original version of Fire in the Hole at Silver Dollar City! Fire in the Hole was widely regarded as one of the world's first indoor roller coasters. The ride was built in-house by Silver Dollar City and opened in 1972. Featuring a mix of powered inclines and gravity-driven drops, this unique roller coaster told the story of how a group of vigilantes known as the Baldknobbers set fire to the mining town of Marmaros. The ride permanently closed on December 30, 2023, and a new version manufactured by Rocky Mountain Construction opened in a new area called the Fire District in 2024.
LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT:
Silver Dollar City and the city of Branson, MO are located on the traditional and treaty lands of the Osage, Kickapoo, Kaskaskia, Caddo, and Očhéthi Šakówiŋ first nations. As a visitor to these lands, I acknowledge my responsibilities as a settler to challenge colonialism and the systems of oppression that have marginalized indigenous peoples, and will work to uplift indigenous voices and create a more inclusive and equitable community for all.
