My harness came out of a 09' Tahoe with a 5.3L Flex Fuel and a 6L80E. I depinned it. I still need to make a pedal harness. I took the pedal harness out of the cab of the Tahoe. But not the pedal. I can't use that one. It has to be a Cadiilac or Corvette pedal. I need it strait. I don't have the skills or welder to make a pedal so that's my best bet. You guys are the reason I took this big of a project on. You make it simple. I know you never wanted to do a how to channel. But your so dang good at it lol!!!! Thank you 2. I know there are a lot of us really appreciate it.

Great video as usual. Pretty creative use of Stud #2 to power the rest of the truck, since in it's former life, all it did was run power to an un-terminated wire under the dash for I suppose a trailer brake controller. When I built my fan conversion harness (WAY overbuilt, using your advice) I used Stud #1 for Fan #2 Power and the VSES/ECAS Fuse for Fan #1 Power at 40A and the SEO B1 Fuse at 5A for the Fan Relay #3. Since the whole mess is still n the future donor car, I moved the wire that used to be on Stud #1 to power the trailer connector. I agree with you about cams in LS's for sound. I think they sound pretty enough with a 3-inch exhaust and a crossover pipe. Happy New Year to all ya'll.

Great video all, I've commented before on just how much I've learned watching. I've been swapping for a while and used a stock harness for the first time on my latest build, a stock 2009 4.8 with a T5 behind it in an '88 S10. I used one of my DBC harnesses left over from a 2004 Silverado, it was a budget swap and it worked out beautifully. My only difference is with your statements on cams. Yes, a lot of people over cam their motors killing bottom end and drivability in a basically stock vehicle. I daily drive a chopped and mini tubbed '68 C10 with a cammed LM7 5.3 LS with long tubes and an X pipe 2.5" exhaust. I installed a Texas Speed Stage 2 Truck Cam in it with a set of LS6 springs and I am running a Fitech Ultimate LS injection system on it. It idles like stock, has better response, and mileage (26mpg on hiway) than stock and it makes more low end torque than a stock motor. (Yes, it's been on a dyno) The advantage is it added almost 60hp on the top end with just the cam, there is literally no downside to the cam and I got it with the springs for just over 300 bucks, that's 432hp at 6200. After 5400rpm the power just still climbs instead of leveling off. I did put a new timing set, oil pump, lightweight pushrods, rocker bushings in along with the springs to correct a few shortcomings of the stock pieces. Sure an install of a 5.3 in your ride without cats and a cold air intake and exhaust will boost output HP into the 350HP range, maybe a little more with the flashed PCM. Most 5.3's will do that, a 4.8 will get you 325HP and a 6L will pull some really big numbers but I've never tested one. IMHO and experience there nothing wrong with a PROPERLY sized cam in an LS, if fact I've experienced no downside just a lot more fun under my right foot and that '88 S10 with the stock 4.8/T5 combo can get downright scary.

I'm going to try to use the fuel pump and fans off of my Vic to work with my Ls3 swap. I have the temp wires I have to hook up to the Ford computer so hopefully it will work. I have to put a temp sensor from the Ford in the Gm engine. So hopefully it'll fire the fan.

How are y'all filling the cooling system when you do the swaps? Seems like a lot of people are having issue with air pockets. Great video.
@UglyTruckExperienceКүн бұрын
Hey Brent. I fill the cooling system as soon as i have it sealed up. If the steam ports are done the same as the stock motor it will burp itself. I pay attention to how much water/antifreeze i add to them. If i have around 4 gallons total in them I know I'm ok. That is a really good question. I will try to remember to talk about that. Thanks. Since I am not running the fuse box on my swap cause it doesn't fit lol. I am going to run the main cable from the Gm truck with the 100 amp fusible link so it'll still be protected. I'm going to turn on the Gm setup when the Ford fusebox comes on. In theory it'll work lol. Fingers crossed.

Hi folks, Awesome knowledge and commitment! You mentioned a Gen IV going into your green truck I believe. Will you be doing videos for the wiring of cruise control, AC, Fans, fuel pumps (I have an 86 dual tank) etc? And I think most Gen IV’s come with at least a 6L80/90. Do you think the 6L’s will fit in the square bodies and earlier trucks? Awesome show and thanks again! mh

Pull the bolt out for the battery and the cover can be swapped to a red one.

True! Or vice versa, you can swap a red one for a black one. We actually think it looks better having both black covers, but it's just a matter of preference. Thanks for tuning in, Jason!

If you have a donor vehicle and you are using everything from the donor you would not have to have it tuned. You would just need the security system/vats removed.

Just curious what do you do on the later model Ls engines that have only one fuel line on the intake to regulate the fuel pressure ?
@UglyTruckExperienceКүн бұрын
The rails that don't have a regulator or a return line get thier pressure from either a fuel pump unit in the tank that has the regulator built in or a GEN 4 or 5 that uses a pulse width modulated fuel pump. We are going to get into that with the gen 4 coming up. Thanks. Jerry

@UglyTruckExperience15 сағат бұрын
We've heard from a lot of people that the aftermarket harnesses aren't as great as they're made out to be. If you just want a basic, run and drive swap, they're fine. But the LS harness makes it so much easier to add options and upgrades down the road. Thanks for tuning in, Barry!
