Ours turns on all the red LEDs, then an electric bell goes off and dispatch sends out the call. Then for the extra shit your pants factor, we (the ambulance crew) have a separate tone box in our room which is somehow louder than the station tones

When I first joined the Service, it was bells, very large bells, very noisy bells! Changed to tones on speakers through out the station and message on the printer. Tones were loud but bearable, also all station lights internal & external would come on.. Worked every time!!
@bprife2 жыл бұрын
That’s interesting to see the lights of different color go on when calls come in. I listen to police scanners and my late great uncle from Kentucky was a volunteer firefighter and he had scanners and radios in his vehicles so I’m familiar with the tones. But never seen what really happens inside a fire station when there’s a call.

how loud is the fire Station alarm when you guys get a call when you sleep how loud is the alarm
@isaiahheid90004 жыл бұрын
Different stations have different alarms and set ups. Some stations have bells in them that can be very loud. Others have pagers in amplified chargers throughout the station that go off when a certain tone is played. But then some also just have a series of tones that go off. If it’s a full volunteer, they might not even have in house tones because no one sleeps there. The volunteer departments just rely on pagers or radio straps or apps such as Active911 and I Am Responding.

Typically that doesn’t happen ... they can’t dispatch 2 alarms at the same time. And if this station only has one apparatus in the CAD, then another station would take the secondary call.

Is this a volunteer fire department?
@aaronmichael71165 жыл бұрын
Why would you think that ? The only reason I can think of is you aren't aware of how a volunteer fire dept works. The firefighters have pagers, and they go off when they get a call, then the dispatch gives them the details. This is done twice. The firefighters respond from their homes, work, or wherever they may be. So, no need for tones at the hall. Hope this helped.

Can the Fire garage door open automatically when the tones come on
@isaiahheid90004 жыл бұрын
I’m sure there’s a way that could be set up. But it’s probably really expensive so a lot of stations don’t do that. Most stations are lucky enough to just have remote controls in their apparatus to open/close the door from inside the truck. But some stations still have to open/close the door by the push button inside, so when responding, someone always has to make sure the door is lowered before leaving. Shoot, very few stations aren’t even lucky enough to have electric doors 😂 - but just about every station does.

Different departments use different systems. Some fire departments, mine included, use Active911 which is an app that sends an alert to our phones when a call drops, it provides more information and it’s how off duty personnel are alerted. There is a public app that civilians can use, it’s called PulsePoint and you can track certain calls in certain areas.
