For me it's the Fire tv cube. The usb port is an incredible add on and the hdmi port is very convenient for an additional device especially when your tv is limited on hdmi ports

I noticed the Apple TV 4K has better brighter color than my 2019 Fire Cube watching the exact same content. Would this be contributed to the type of GPU? Or the amount of “cores”? I’m really hoping the new cube looks as good as the Apple TV .

I just bought fire cube on sale. I would have gladly paid full price though. I was on the fence, as I'm a heavy apple user, but also deep in Apple's echo system. Even if you take away the ability to sideload, I still would pick the Cube. Why? Because as a commenter(and fellow Apple user) noted below, there are more legal 3rd party Apps on Fire devices, as apposed to Apples App store.

I went with the 2022 Apple TV because whenever I can hardwire, I hardwire. And the Apple TV has a gig Ethernet port versus the 10/100 Cube which would choke down my Ethernet connection. I run around 480Mbps.

Returned my Fire TV Cube 3 for better UI, Gigabit connection, no more buffering issues and my favorite, rechargeable remote!! The reason I got the fire tv is for the sideloaded apps, but I'm done with their low quality videos (if you know what i mean).

I recently bought a fire cube 2. Here is what I found it will not play back in 4k I had to turn it down to 1080 to make it work. It also saturates the colors too much especially red. I also have a nvidia shield which works perfectly well on the same TV. I would hope Amazon has fixed these problems with the new model.

I was going through the comment and I laughed when I saw people returning cube 3 without knowing it's full potential, so ridiculous. I have 3 ATV 4K including the latest gen, still I love cube 3. It supports audio passthrough. I can play Dolby TrueHD, DTS HD / MA / X, which is not possible with ATV 4K. I streamed my own 4K ultra HD blueray rip via Kodi / Plex and I never faced any issue with Wifi. The size of the file was 90 GB. Also I can get more than 800+ live TV channels, so I don't need a separate cable TV and monthly I'm saving almost 10$. 😂

If it's between these two, then give me the Fire Cube. I can sideload Syncler Plus and when you combine it with Real Debrid it's a game changer. No need to pay for streaming services ever again. Syncler Plus and Real Debrid will cost 30 bucks max.

If you are platform agnostic then the new A15 apple tv has effectively doomed this 3rd gen TV cube. Yes apple tv os is a locked down system and does not come with a web browser but its so much quicker vs 2nd gen cube in general use it could be a good option if all you want is a dedicated streaming box. On atv you can return to an app and the playback starts from where you left off rather than reloading or starting from title page. I got an A12 ATV 4k 7-8 weeks ago but eneded up returning it when I heard rumours that a new faster one is coming. IMO the best thing about ATV is that frame rate matching is available for ALL video apps unlike firetv where only prime video and netflix are supported. The switching is so much quicker vs fireos 7 devices. The home screen of the ATV is not littered with sponsored ads except obviously apple tv + shows but you can scroll down to hide it. You can disable auto updates if you like your current os version unlike what Amazon is now doing with their fire tv devices. ATV doen not have a browser and its an apple device so its locked down meaning you can't side load apps unless you use xcode and own a mac but still if all you're after is a high performance streaming box that provides consistent user experience then ATV 4k is an excellent option.

Well, if you're already in the Apple ecosystem, then the Apple TV (box😂) is a no-brainer especially if you have Apple Arcade and want to download the games. that's what all the extra memory is for. IMO. but if I didn't have anything apple, I would definitely go with the shield over the fire TV cube. Again, maybe just for the gaming experience. But if you're using them strictly for the TV/movie, watching experience, then I don't think there's much of a difference in either, get the cheapest one.🤷🏾‍♂️ again imo

Fire TV UI sucks. It is the worst of all of them, including other Android UI's. Even Chromecast with GoogleTV is better than Fire. Fire is too noisy, confusing, has too many ads, and an awful menu. Streaming devices should be simple. Apple tvOS and RokuOS are the two best UI of all streaming devices. Simple, functional and easy to navigate.

N I have 3 fully loaded android devices too that get everything n job done as well there called Tanggula X5 N SuperBox Elite 2 N SuperBox Elite 1 n also had Monster box X1 Max n let mine youngest bro used that device so they all have 4 GB ram n great storage from 128 GB for three them n one has 64 GB storage n they get streaming job done well n easy too use as well

I have much more access to 3rd party legal apps with the Fire Cube than the Apple TV. Apple TV feels like prison, also the Fire 🔥 Cube allows access to their 🕸 browser, for a 150.00$ you would think that you would be able to access the Apple Mac Safari 🕸 🕷 browser. When accessing the Safari Browser I have to use my MacBook Pro and then mirroring it to the Apple TV Dongle device. Truth is I don't miss the Apple TV it's there collecting dust

Not that's it's a big deal, but I like the Apple TV for its podcast app (I like to listen to Podcasts while playing games and Apple has every podcast and the interface on the TV is second to none). On the other hand, it's a huge bummer that Apple will not allow a web browser onto the Apple TV such as Amazon does on Fire TV devices.

A15 Bionic have 6GB on board Ram bro, you will atleast get 4GB even if Apple is downsizing it just for Apple TV & that A15 itself will cost around $70 to Apple & not to forget it is as good or even better than SD 8 Gen 1. So I think Apple has both 4+ GB Ram & 128GB storage.

I’ve had FireTV, Firesticks.. Nvidia Shield, Chromecast 4K & now currently the 2017 Apple TV 4K. None of the others compare to Apple as far as speed & ease of use. Amazon has the worst and most annoying UI of them all. Chromecast UI is very nice. Shield is ok. Apple is simple and to the point. As far as sideloading.. there’s very little point nowadays if you’re using certain official apps.. *wink*. I’m definitely upgrading to the new Apple 4K tho.

You need a telescope just to see your favorite APPs. While an Ad now takes up 1/4 of the screen instead of 1/3 of the screen (at least they improved there.)

I own every streaming device minus the Nvidia Shield. TVOS just plain sucks. It's basically just a grid of apps. It doesn't integrate anything. Every time I try to use my Apple TV, the OS is just terrible and too basic.

AppleTV has the best UI of all devices. Simple, easy to use, easy to navigate, and not overloaded with ads and confusing menus. FireTV has the worst UI of all devices. Heck, you need a telescope just to see your favorite apps on a little row hidden beneath ads that take up the top 25% of the screen.

@@LuckyNikitaBoba That is completely false, as I press the home button to turn on my AppleTV, TV, and AV Receiver, then turn, then adjust the volume on my receiver, and turn everything off with the Power button on my AppleTV remote. Please stop spreading misinformation. In the setting menu you go to Remotes and Devices screen, you'll see an option for Control TVs and Receivers under Home Theater Control.
