I like how Pat addressed the subject of potentially training the wrong guy. Obviously nothing is full proof, but all the classes I've taken have all been filled with (atleast from the surface) good moral people. I can't imagine what it would feel like - well...no use in going down that hole. Love your vids Pat.

Good stuff Gents. As an instructor one can never be too careful...even after all the appropriate background checks. I have literally handed back fees and escorted individuals off my range after what I felt were red flags that had appeared. Safety first to all.

I never even thought about the possibility of training a guy who's going to do harm with the skills learned. Good on you for doing that due diligence

Yes. It does. Knowing how to do something is not sufficient to convey that body of knowledge to another. It gets into not only communication, but the philosophy behind the task(s). Experience and perspective...😎

Pat, a man who says it as it is, short, precise and to the point. Some firearms and hand to had combat instructors are so l-o-n-g winded, yapety yapety yap.

In my martial arts background I limit saying "bad" or "wrong". I use them for Safety issues, much as these guys mentioned. Other than that, showing what I do and asking them to try it and see if it works for them. Gets great buy in. Sometimes I may ask if they "need" to do it a certain way as I did it very differently and get them thinking rather than just doing rote repetition.

Good on Pat Mac for being suspicious (for lack of a better term) of WHO he's willing to train. I hope most green berets (and above) have this all sorted out by now in the current political climate we now are faced with.

Great information and mind set. Real talk ,everybody is a little different so one technic may work real good with someone and not so good to others . I think it is the first time that I listen the point of not teaching “good stuff“ to bad people 👏👏👏

More great stuff. I teach kids and it’s so cool to see these guys totally get how educating others actually works. You need to provide a way for the student to build and discover knowledge. I teach kids how to think critically and not what to think. Peace!

Once I stopped a guy getting ready to take a shot who was fixing to shorten his support side index finger in the process. I asked him how he came up with the grip he had on the pistol. I fully expected him to name a range instructor somewhere, but he admitted he came up with it all by himself. He said he’d had an earlier shooting hand injury that caused him to flinch with the pistol he was shooting.

I wouldn't train with Costa if it was free. Seen him flop on the ground muzzle first with a shotgun roll around doing the quick side to side head shifts.

That's the number one thing, as a student, you should NOT be bringing to a class........what you learned somewhere else. Obviously you are gonna do you. But if it's some "Trademark" technique, and not something that YOU do, that you picked up at another course......leave it there. You're there, and everyone else is there, to hone your current skillset or to learn something. That other stuff just gets in your way, and definitely can get in the way of others.

While it feels like people with bad intentions wouldn't seek out training because they are typically in a hurry to wreak havoc, remember the 9/11 hijackers spent the time scout and train. Maybe far-fetched when it comes to stuff like this, but assume nothing in this day and age.
