Fireball XL5 Last of the Zanadus

Presenting the Fireball XL5 episode "Last of the Zanadus". Kudos, the last of the Zanadu emperors, hatches an evil plan to destroy all the Lazoons in the universe by releasing the deadly milamitosis virus. Major Ireland, a good friend of Steve Zodiac, returns to Space City after 10 years of deep space exploration. Unknown to anyone, Ireland is under Kudos’ hypnotic spell and has in his possession a vial of milamitosis. He secretly poisons Zoonie’s favorite candy, Martian Delight, and Zoonie becomes critically ill. The only cure is water from the Fountain of Life located on the remote and mysterious planet Zanadu. Can Steve Zodiac and crew make it there in time to retrieve the antidote and save Venus’ beloved Lazoon before it’s too late?
This is a color animated remake of the UK children’s show Fireball XL5, created by Gerry & Sylvia Anderson, which featured marionettes. Produced by AP Films and distributed by ITC Entertainment, it appeared on US television from 1963-1965 on NBC. Voices, sound effects and music are from the original TV broadcast. There are slight alterations for creative license.

LAST OF THE ZANADUS was fun to create but presented many challenges, such as dress uniforms, Steve's apartment, the dinner party and the caverns of Kudos' castle. The animation software keeps improving which allows me to make better episodes. There was a recent software upgrade so more improvements should be seen in the next episode WINGS OF DANGER due for a June/July 2021 release.

I know it's a difficult process but I wish the episodes would come faster. Very entertaining. Leave Venus' figure just as it is in this episode. The show obviously appeals to adults more than kids in this format, so it might be time to drop the Lazoon.

As far as the Lazoon's, these are remakes of the original episodes so I do not get to determine how much Zoonie screen time is in each. Some episodes he has more of a prominent roll than others. Congratulations on this, the figures are really good now. 👍 I just found Roberts legs were a bit human shaped in at least one scene? Even as a child I found the Lazoon highly annoying and spoilt the show for me. A whole planet of them would be purgatory, so I fully empathise whith the Zanadus. So the virus came in via Turkish delight, not frozen meat as in our maybe reality 😉

Wow. I'm a huge fan of Gerry Anderson, even though I'm only 14. I love how you animated one of his not as successful but amazing series. He would be proud. As for those people who are saying the characters look "creepy", they are exaggerating. They do look kind of weird, but I imagine it would hard to make perfect animated people and at the same time match them with their original audio.

The first several episodes my overall goal was to have the characters look like marionettes. However, many viewers found it unappealing. I have since "softened" the characters appearance and will continue to do so as better software upgrades will allow. The animation also remains somewhat clunky but I think that gives the appearance of "puppetry" and somewhat captures the charm & spirit of the original show. Thanks again for watching!

An excellent job--the quality of the animation in this episode is visibly improved over the first ones. I do wish, though, that you hadn't made Zoonie's face so "piggy." The original face was much better, I think. Now, which episodes are you currently working on? As I've said in an earlier message, I'd LOVE to see "Faster Than Light" and "Wings of Danger." @@HarborsidePressLLC Thanks. I have seen the original Space Patrol, but not the CGI version. Some people have compared Zoonie to Mitch in Supercar, but they can't be compared as Mitch was an intelligent chimpanzee who was properly involved in some of the episodes, he wasn't stupid like Zoonie. I liked the Gabbler bird in Space Patrol, at least he could actually speak and was intelligent rather than just imitating sounds

Really liked the Cadillac but again, Venus is too sexy. There is no need for such an emphasis on sexuality. I see this episode is 2 years old. I hope it's the older of the two I've watched so far as that would indicate movement in the right direction. Oh and besides the Cadillac I liked the rocking of Fireball XL-5 when it was landing. You may want to consider doing an epilogue on each episode. For instance on this one have Ireland being shown recovering. Again, I'm not meaning to criticize harshly. I'm trying to offer constructive criticism. I hope you see it that way for that's my only intention. And these are done so well it's hard to find anything to improve on them. Thanks! BTW, I'm in my late sixties, so I grew up watching this show and Thunderbirds Are Go! & Banana Splits & Supercar ....driven by Mike Murphy (who, I think had the largest nose of any man ever...lol ) & others.
