Sometimes rust and rot can take it's toll on the subframe, especially around the body mount bushings. Here's how I fix them!

It appears you used CR patches on the sub frame body mounts, where typical frames used high strength steel with higher Molybdenum content.

I'm pretty sure these old subframes were mild steel - not positive but sorta semi-sure. High strength steel didn't start showing up until a bit later I think. You'll have to provide me a link to melidnium - I musta been absent that day in materials class!

Why not place the patch on top and weld it in? No cutting. The body will sit a little higher but probably not noticeable.

Unless you cut out the rotted metal before patching you can never be sure the repair is solid. Plus patching over existing metal can create moisture and debris traps and can accelerate new rust & rot. Thanks for watching!
